Default Odd question...

Forgive me, but I'm fairly new to manuals

When shifting gears, is it always supposed to be a smooth shift, or will it be sometimes smooth and other times like "crunch" type of shift? I spoke to the dealer about it, and h stated that was normal for my car. Is this true?

It doesn't happen often and I always shift with the clutch pedal down to the floor.

Also, it usually happens (when it does happen) during the first 2 shifts (1-2, and 2-3) once in a while to 5. Any thoughts?

My car has less than 4k on it...hope its not screwed up already...

Crunch type of shift? Do yo mean like, grinding? If your grinding, thats not really a good thing, but everyone does it...

i dont think so he's grinding.. but i know what you are trying to say, and it happens to me too..."crunchy" ie not buttery smooth when going to a gear. I think its normal for our cars. Try using redline tranny oil, you'll feel a difference. any other thoughts?

i agree with sick, red and enjoi. new cars grind a little, everyone does it and redline helps..... i changed out the fluid about 1000 miles into the car, and noticed a change. it wasnt huge, but it was enuff for me to pat myself on the back and say, "good job, $ well spent" often i do stuff to my rides and look back on it and say, what huge waste of $ and i can't believe i busted a knuckle getting the bold out! the fluid change job is ez. takes about 30 min if you have a good funnel w/ hose and some stands. i let the car cool and packed the bay with wadded up newspaper to catch the drips..... i think the dripping of fluid while using the funnel and hose is inevitable and i hate the smell of burning stuff.....

long diatribe. my $.02
