Default Will toyota emerge as a real contender in nascar ???

Well after watching a few races last year I was wondering what others thoughts were as to whether or not Toyota will emerge as a real contender this year in the Sprint cup??

My opinion.

With Joe Gibbs racing getting the coach back and all the driver moves in the off season. The new tires testing rules and a real commitment to the sport unlike ever before even in the "car of tomorrow" Toyota looks like they may have a shot to do something no import has ever done in the good ole boy's sport. Make an impact!

I think they will now that they gave Toyota engines more horsepower and the cars are all built basically equal on the new CoT platform.

With Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch rocking the Toyotas now, it looks very likely we'll see a Toyota enter the Winner's Circle this season. Kyle Busch already is a top contender for making the chase if he can keep consistent.

Yeah. I think Toyota has a really good shot at doing something amazing in NASCAR. Toyota has shown that it's capable of succeeding in oval racing as in the Craftsmen Truck series and now that the Car of Tomorrow platform is being used, everyone is pretty much on even footing. With the same starting point, and Toyota's dogged determination to win (evidenced by the F1 scandals) I think Toyota will pull ahead.

However, I'd like to see Toyota win in F1.

Kyle Bush won the Kobalt Tools 500 today, so there's the first Toyota race victory.

As toyota has done for years in motorsports, they will dump loads of money into nascar (unfortunatly) until they can dominate the league. They'll do it for a few years, and then move to the next big motorsport.

Love the sig tC4ME.

I really don't follow NASCAR, but I do follow Redskins news so all things Gibbs pop up on their news channels, including racing. It seems that the CoT is taking the engineer out of the competition by making all things equal. In that case, does it even matter if the driver is in a Ford, Chevy, Pontiac or Toyota? Toyota should have an equal shot from a technical standpoint, it looks like it will be how much money they dump into drivers and pit crews. Would they be able to saturate the field and win by sheer volume alone?

If no Toyota driver places in the top 10 or so but has a huge number below that, can't they still claim the most points overall as a manufacturer?

I think toyota could easily beat everyone else at nascar, but if they do it right away then all the nascar lovers will get ____ed. They will probly take it easy for a few years so they have a chance to blend in first.
