View Full Version : Rear Bumper Protector -versus- Front End Mask
robert_gately 11-10-2004, 03:33 AM I'm trying to decide which of these two accessories to buy with my $50 gift card from Scion. Your feedback will help me decide. Thanks.
Rear Bumper Protector $58, looks like it will do what it's designed for
Front End Mask $55, I'm not sure how effective this could be because it doesn't cover very much. Does the mask protect an area larger than it's own size?
klimtone 11-10-2004, 03:36 PM why don't I have a gift card from Scion????
Distracted_Thinker 11-11-2004, 12:01 AM You only get one if you finance through toyota.
zdawg913 11-11-2004, 02:12 AM what if you buy your car straight up?? i dont have a gift card either.... ?
its_ikon 11-11-2004, 07:12 PM the rear bumper protector is not worth it. get the front end mask if you are choosing between the two
zdawg913 11-11-2004, 07:35 PM i'll ask again...
what if you buy your car straight up?? i dont have a gift card either.... ?
xA_RS_ChickLA 11-12-2004, 11:15 PM Wait I financed through toyota and i didn't get a $50 gift card..... when did you get your card? When you took delivery of your car???
hotbox05 11-13-2004, 01:35 AM just wait it takes awhile mine took like a month and a half
hnefrdo 11-25-2004, 09:19 AM get the mask. i wish i had gotten mine earlier. instead of only protecting my hood from rock chips, my front mask also serves to cover up the rock chips i got before i bought the mask, now.
dante_b 11-25-2004, 07:27 PM frontend mask
asirvr4 11-26-2004, 09:42 AM i didn't get a gift card
but... i got a gift
it was a draw, i chossed a cupon, scratch & won a huge washing machine.......
Slyfx13 12-01-2004, 08:00 PM I have also heard that if you have a mask, it traps all the rain, and moisture, so it may leave marks or what not....I dont know, I have heard mixed reviews on the mask...I wanted to get one for mine but people said that it traps the rain down under and it can mold over time and what not.
Slyfx13 12-01-2004, 08:01 PM I didnt get a gift card either and I financed through toyota! Hmmp!
robert_gately 12-02-2004, 02:11 AM Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like more people would rather get the front end mask than the rear bumper protector. I guess I will get the mask but I'm still not totally sure. In Oregon, it rains a lot and I wouldn't want the mask to fill up with water and cause mold to grow. Also, I don't see how the little mask can protect the whole hood. Maybe it's just supposed to protect the portion of the hood that's most likely to get hit by rocks.
I was thinking of making my own mask by using some plastic material. Ideally, something that would stick to the hood without any adhesive, like the plastic films that adhere to glass because of surface tension.
Anyway thanks for your thoughts
djct_watt 12-02-2004, 08:44 AM From my driving, I see the majority of rock chips on the front 1/5 of the hood. . . nothing really below that, on the grille or bumper or lights. . . but the OEM fogs are pieces of shiezer and like to crack without any traces of an impact from debris. . . more likely they are from the car wash I go to.
Slyfx13 12-05-2004, 03:03 AM Well I got my $50 gift card in the mail today! Now I am asking the same question....what should I buy. :D
Back_In_Black_xA 12-05-2004, 04:47 AM I got my gift card the other day. I bought the sport pedal covers with it today.
