Default ebay?!!

Sup everybody,

I was wondering if you all trust ebay with buying performance parts, or just random stuff to put on your car. I am only asking this is because my girlfriebd is expecting baby, and money is tight. Looking to buy a few things off ebay to save money. I dont use ebay to buy car stuff from so i am worried that i will be getting crap. What do you think?

I've bought many things on Ebay with great success but you have to be careful. First thing is to stick to name brands. If you buy something you've never heard of, there's no telling what you'll receive. Second, review the seller's feedback. It's usually easy to tell if the person is selling junk or trying to swindle people.

My advice in short is to find the parts you like and price them locally and in online stores and then check Ebay to see if you can find it cheaper.

^x3 Also watch the classifieds on this site as well! I have found 90% of the stuff for my car either in the sponsored sales, private party classifieds (PPC), and ebay. Local shops like VTR in Everett(www.vtrweb.com), can usually match or beat prices too on big ticket items as well like ABS Dynamics, Greddy, etc.) Like said above its about spending some time finding what you want and shopping for the best price, not just necessarily going to ebay and buying the cheapest part.

the one thing i have found with ebay... while there are great buys, if a price seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Like Erik said, these people are buying there parts from the manufactures at close to the same prices that your local shops are. Take into account the fact that with a local shop you have no shipping costs ( usually) and if there is any problems with the product you can hand it right back over the counter...No paying for shipping etc. to get a part replaced...If they will help you out at all.
The guys at VTR and at European technologies have been able to beat the cost of ebay stores 90% of the time.

try to stick with buying things from the sellers with a feedback score over 98%. i have had good success with sellers with 98% feedback. go and read the buyers feedbacks also. those are good indications of how the sellers are.

Dude, you're 21 and having a baby. WTF are you buying performance parts for? Perspective man, perspective! Time to grow up. Doesn't mean you can't have your hobbies, but if money's tight, they take back seat.

I have gotten tons of stuff on ebay, that is the #1 place I go too. I got a BRAND NEW DC Sports header a couple of days ago for 200 shipped, keyless entry for 125, etc, etc. They have good deals on there you just have to look. Like some of the others were saying, check the feedback first!

I would shy away from that intake... I did just that ( added the k&n) and beleive me tubing is not all the same. I've rewelded mine three times now. im actually taking it off this week to replace with an injen.

If you want something just to get you buy till funds come around ill give you my ebay intake when i take it off. it is definitely functional, just not that durable.

You can find a lot on ebay and save a ton of money. Just be careful. Chris and Erik vouch for VTR and I would listen to them. As for the guy giving you crap, you get that on these forums.

I have 3 kids and have done tons of crap to my car, and am not gonna stop any time soon. Just because you are going to be a dad doesn't mean you can't have fun with your car. It's better than spending your money on crack.

Ebay is great you just gotta know how to use it. ask the seller questions, lots of em, gets lots of up close detailed pictures. and most important learn how to use the search function, compare a lot as well. I get 50% of all my crap off eaby =p
