Default thinking about the tC

hey guys im thinking about getting a Scion tC here in the next couple of months but wated to get some input first. first what type of MPG is everyone getting? second im very interested in installing a high flow exhaust with out cats. im assuming that the cats are monitored by the OBD-II on this vehicle just like they are on every other car, but does someone make a fooler for the O2 sensors, and if so will they pass an emmision inspectoin (i dont mean a visual inspection or state inspection, i mean when they run a diagnostic of the vehicle)? if they will what header, s-pipe, and mid pipe does everyone sugest, and any comment about the different CIAs would be appreciated.

i currently own a Lifted jeep wrangler and 10 mpg and high insurance is really starting to take its toll. So now im looking at something that gets great milage, looks awsome as hell and is kinda sporty too.

Thanks guys!

1. High-flow exhaust will not cause a CEL. The secondary cat is small and relatively insignificant.
2. A new header WILL cause emission issues I *think*. Luckily for me in FL, they don't inspect the cars, so maybe someone from another state can help you with that.
3. There are several good header manufacturers out there; a SEARCH would help you with that. Same goes for S-Pipe... my Tsudo Catback came with a midpipe already, so I didn't have to buy a separate one.
4. CAI = not very noticeable gains. Injen seems to be the frontrunner, though. Again, SEARCH on this topic; there are pages of threads about it.

Hope this helps! I love my tC

EDIT: As for MPG, before my turbo went on, I could go about 325 miles before my gas light came on. Now, I can go about 275.

I can vouch for jaxtcracer, we haven't had car emissions inspections in FL since 2000. When it was in affect it only took place in the six biggest counties in the state and was concluded by the FL legislature to not be effective in terms of reducing pollution since there just isn't as many old cars on the road in this state as there are in other places. There's been rumors of new Governor Charlie Crist bringing it back - with of course the increase in concern about pollution, global warming, etc. nationwide but I seriously doubt it.

I believe thats how it works on most newer cars; there are two sets of cats. the first is monitored by a set of O2 sensors and the second is not. are there any O2 foolers out there for the Scion?

MPG - Auto I got average of 23, Manual I'm getting an average of 30 or more sometimes.

Headers will not pass I am 99% sure... There is an anti-fouler, but doesn't really work with the DC header (personal current experience). There's been a few write ups on here how to fix it so you don't throw a CEL. There's even someone on here who used part of a Pepsi can which I am probably going to try. Just search for it.

CAI - I've noticed a gain, I had Injen on my previous auto and I'm not using Fujita on my m/t. Both intakes are great... Fujita is a little better IMO.

Go for the Tc. I have a custom 2-half inch exhaust system that starts from the collector. Got rid of my cats. Nice power gain. It is going to throw cel tho. But dosent effect performance at all. Im not worried about smog yet, cuz i have an 05 and you dont have to smog for five years at least out here in California
