Max pressure on my 215/40-17 NeoGens are 44 psi, but I keep them at 40 psi. I keep the 225/40-18 S-03s on the Matrix at 35 psi, come to think of it.

maybe contact the company that makes the tire. tell them rim size and stuff and vehicle weight, they could probably give a good answer im thinking

There is no recommended pressure on the tire itself?

Back when I was driving a 1,000 miles a week I started running my tires at 10% below the maximum pressure rating, around 40-42 psi, and the gas savings covered my beer and pizza for the weekend.

There is a school of thought that the determining factor is the weight of the car so just use the recommended pressures of the stock wheels on the replacements regardless. This feels too soft to me after rolling on rock hard tires for years, but then again people complain that they are loosing their fillings when they ride with me.

There is the temperature measuring method which seems to be the most accurate. They describe it well here http://www.cjtire.com/pdfs/Size%20&%20Load%20Carrying.pdf
