Default 2008 tC Pioneer subwoofer control

I have an 2008 tC with the 6.5" subwoofer. Can that subwoofer be controled by the
Pioneer head unit? ( sub on / off and level adjustment) Or is that control on the Pioneer head unit just for the Bazooka / Scion subwoofer?

Thanks

Default 2008 TC subwoofer

I'm waiting for a reply to my e-mail this AM.
Went to dealer yesterday, they said the subwoofer control on the Pioneer head unit is for the Bazooka / Scion subwoofer. ????

you can control it.. you just have to turn the feature on
to do so:
with your HU not in use (no CD, radio, Aux, ect...) press and hold the menu button for about 3 seconds

you should then hear a beep and then a new menu that you cant access while using the HU will appear

use the dial to scroll throu the setting choices which include..
the illumination color (blue or orange)
iPod direct control
Subwoofer control (which is set as off default)
Scion Sound Processing car type and
The opening desplay when u turn ur car on

just turn the subwoofer control on and now you can control it from the normal menu screen

if u use your ipod a lot i recommend turning ON the ipod direct control..

^^ I believe that is for the Premium Audio, and I think the OP is referring to the base audio..

I also think that is refering to the older head unit, Ipod control is on by default with the new one

Yes, it is the Premium Audio head unit that I have. I have turn the subwoofer feature on and still can't control the subwoofer. It must be a defect in the head unit or the subwoofer amp. All I get with the subwoofer feature on is the subwoofer all the time with no control. I took the car to the Scion dealer this past Monday, they told me that the car had no subwoofer!! After showing them the original window sticker and the sub in the hatch area, they said it was news to them!!?? After looking at the car for a good hour, they told me that the subwoofer control on the Premium head unit was for the Premium Bazooka / Scion subwoofer!!! I have sent an e-mail to Scion about this and I'm waiting for an answer.

i believe the factory sub gets its signal from the front speakers so adjusting it from the HU wont work most likely. I would imagine the sub adjustment from the HU is for the bazooka sub or, i think the premium HU has factory RCA outs on the back, so the adjustment could be for that as well.

Yeah, above is correct... The stock 6" uses speaker level inputs off the fronts. No way to control it directly.

Ohh, ok so you do have the Premium-- OK, well 1- Scion does not offer a subwoofer "upgrade" on the 08 tC, because the 08s come w/ a standard 6" sub by Pioneer. It was 05-07 tCs that had the Bazooka sub accessory. 2- By turning the headunit OFF, and then holding down the Menu button til you hear a beep, you can scroll to SW where you can set it to off or on. As far as controlling the subwoofer's levels, well...I'm not sure the regular Bass levels would control it....or if turning if off or on is the only control over the sub....

anyone?

yea all the 08s come with the "upgraded audio" so its standard

u can control the 6' sub by pressing menu while listening to music and then scrolling to the sub control level.. it even lets u reverse it (press in the dial)

hmmm is there anyway to control the sub directly on the SNS or is it only through the large selection of equalization controls on this unit?

Default 2008 pioneer subwoofer control

I've tried everything that's in the owner's manual (Toyota Part # PT546-00081).
And I HAVE NOT received a reply from Scion! I will go back to the dealer's lot to see if they have a TC with the same audio system and check it out.
Thanks for all your help!!!!

Hmmm, so you tried whats on page 7 of that manual?? Where it says SW: Subwoofer ouput phase can be switched between normal and reverse by pressing MULTI SELECTOR....etc etc and it goes on to say "Subwoofer level increases or decreases +6 to -24 is displayed as the level is increased or decreased-"

IMO, the sound difference is very subtle;

Have you gotten to that menu where you can adjust the levels?? You have to push the multi selector up and down to adjust the levels...
Let me know thanks!

Response (Genice Gomez) 02/01/2008 01:04 PM

Thanks for contacting Scion! To answer your question, the Bazooka Subwoofer is not available for the 2008 Scion tC; reason being your vehicle already comes equipped with the factory 6 inch subwoofer. The Pioneer upgraded radio is designed to operate with the factory subwoofer. Please refer to your audio manual for additional assistance on how to operate this option.

If you have any further questions, call us toll-free at 1-866-70-SCION, Monday-Friday 5am-6pm PST and Saturdays 7am-4pm PST.

Thanks,

I have a 2008 TC with the 6" subwoofer. Can that subwoofer be controled by the Pioneer radio/ ( subwoofer on/off, Level control and phase control) The radio has those option on the menu but they don't seem to work. My dealer says that those controls are for the optional Bazooka / Scion subwoofer. Please confirm.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for all of the info. I just picked up my 08 tC with the premium audio deck.

Does anyone have a picture of the back of the deck? I am looking for info on the output RCA jacks.
