Default 9-10 inches of snow.....no problem for the tC!!! :)

You gotta love the tC and how well it does in the snow (at least from my personal experience). Don't get me wrong, if the roads weren't plowed, it wouldn't be fun, but this morning there was about 9-10 inch snow drift behind my car and I just rolled right over it only having to pull back forward once. One of my friends just bought a tC on Monday and even he was saying how easy it was.

i think the tC in the snow is crappy. my cousin crashed into a bush and the bush won. damn it bush!

i have a photo of the bush owning my cousins car i just gotta find it its funny actually. haha.

but other than that the tires on the tC suck.

^^ i think the 08's (which i own, not sure what model year this thread's OP owns) are a little better than that, I've driven fine with a few inches, but once it starts really piling up, I really slow down just to make sure i don't slide off the road..

I did OK my first season with fresh all-season tires. The next one was pretty bad, no accidents luckily. This winter, I got pure winter treads on my car and feel 5 x more confident. Even lowered, I've been better off than a lot of SUV's. Don't forget though, that a lot of what determines how well you drive in the snow, is simply how you drive.

I guess I'll have to see how next season is then, being that this season's been okay for me as well! I drive careful as hell, especially when there's snow out, I guess i'll look into picking up some winter tires in a season or two, it's good to hear that they make a big difference!

lol....It looks like I'm alone on this issue. I have an 06 automatic, on stechs and Toyo Proxes 4 tires. If I didn't say it in my original post, all I did was back out of the spot and go down the road. My complex had a crappy plow job and the speed limit is 15mph anyway. I'm not talkin about goin 40mph down an unplowed road lol.

mjonz20-
I know the proxes4 tires and they're excellent in wet/dry but say they're excellent tires in snow, you might want to stop taking drugs. They're OK in snow, not excellent, and 8-10 inches of snow? um.. we only have about 5 inches of ground clearance on the tC. Sounds like you were plowing the road with your front bumper.

Can't plow with the front bumper when you're backing out lol. I never said they were excellent in the snow either, just stating what I was using. I'll stress it again, I BACKED out of a space that had 9-10 inches BEHIND the car thanks to the snowplow, then I drove down a plowed road with only a little bit of snow. As far as drugs go, if I were on them, I'd probably have more fun....got some for me???

Just a side question.....is the clearance the same front and back or is the front lower than back stock??

oh okay i misread that you were BACKING out.. sorry. nope i don't have any drugs right now, want some vitamins instead?

that's a good point on rear ground clearance, first thought would be that there is more clearance in the rear. it's too cold here to get out there and measure, does someone else want to if you're bored?

well the reason you did so well is cuz u backed out into a snow bank.
backed.
the tc is FWD so its not like your front tires were stuck in the snow...

tC sucks in the snow. Even on winter tires.
