After driving our new XB around for the past few days, I've come to one conculsion. I don't want to go larger in diameter, but in width.

Does anyone know how wide a tire I could go with a 15x7? The wheel/tire store and I were researching 225 60s.

on the topic, i don't know but i would assume that a lower offset would be crucial. check out work-wheels http://www.work-wheels.co.jp/wheels/index/index.html. Van can order them for you.

That's IT!!! However, those wheels look like they have quite the positive offset made to fill out those massive fender flares. I'll take a look though...

There are many wheels to choose from but, the higher offsett wheels mostly have to be imported from Japan. Mr. Van Pham (ScionVan) can import Work Wheels that you see on the picture above! Or you can select locally which the offsett that I've seen is maybe (+38) Enkei at most. Most of them are eighter +44/42 offsett. That's what Scion is about! Stay with-in the box! Good luck bro!

There are two offsets specified for the 15 x 7s, one at 41, and one at 35. I want to go with a 225 or 215/60 tire. I'll Photoshop what I want my xB to look like with those wheels. I'm going for the 99 F1 championship winning Mclaren MP-14 look. At the same time, with a rim that weighs only 9.9 pds, It might actually lower centrifugal mass while boosting handling from the wider rubber. I'll post my pic here sometime this weekend.

Don't forget about the tire size when concerning weight. I put 16x7 Volk CE28N's on my car with 205/55/16 Falken Azenis. The wheels are incredibly light (the lightest in Volk's lineup with the exception of Race Specific Magnesium Alloy Wheels) but the tires add and incredible amount of weight to the car. I didn't weigh it, but comparing the weight of the stock wheels and tires to the new wheels and tires, its just about even.

Not to mention the sidewall of the tire, you might be best off going with a 205/50/15. The offset for my wheels were 33 which makes the wheels come pretty damn flush with the fenders but my tires, because they are such high profile, rubs on the inside plastic of the fender. :( Anyway, I'd love to see an xB with 15x7s with 205/50/15s. I think it would look amazing. If I ever got a second set of wheels, I know what I'd like to get...hmmm, I've been resisting the urge to PM ScionVan on what he can get a set of Works for.

15x7 w/ 205/50/15 would make it effectively smaller, which means higher revs to accomplish the same given speed. I'd love to do that, but one of the reasons I wanted to get 16s were to offset the high revs at speed. The problem that I had with tires was trying to find something with a good sidewall (without making them too big) and good performance. Its tough finding a good tire in the size I wanted (205/50/16) so I opted for a slightly taller profile (55 vs. 50), and I didnt' want to dip down to a 205/45 either.

Changing overall diameter will affect the TCS, but I heard that there was a mystery driver over at Willow Springs Roadcoarse today. You might want to ask the mystery driver about it (see the TSW forum) and if it affected it at all.

:) That's cool! I like the 15s look. It looks small, but that's part of the look. For instance, I don't believe the new Mini Cooper captures the spirit of the original Mini. Why is it large outside, small inside--and expensive!? The part of the lure of the OG Mini is because it was large inside, small outside--with 10" wheels pushed out to the corners, and cheap. Imagine the embarassment of the drivers of the other, more expensive, larger machinery! However, this new one isn't even fast or quick compared to other machinery in it's price range. It's all show, not enough go.
The XB more fulfills this thinking with its lightweight, great handling, electronic driving aids, and cheap price.

I went over tire rim sizes with Steve over at Auto Innovations, and we came up with a 205/55-15 on the Enkei RP-F1s--15 x 7 on with a 35 mm offset. :idea: :wink: Me thinks this wheel fit car

It'd be so affordable, your eyes would bug out!! And no kidding on that!
Anyway, chickenadobo: those Enkeis are actually very cool wheels...really light, and of pretty high quality construction. Definitely still a pretty rare wheel too, so it's a good choice imo.
