Make a new center console which attaches from the front of the bottom of the dash to where it currently ends.

a complete dash overlay in cf would be cool, are you looking to make something different and totally of the wall?

How about making a better boot liner/spare tire cover to replace that lame compartment foam thing. Make it hold the spare and slap a sub box in the other side.

How about an overhead storage rack to store stuff and mount things to. I have one in another car, it mounts in the holes where the sunvisors are, then you mount the visors under the rack. All the companies that make them don't have one for the xB. 8)

I'm currently fabricating a "RAM AIR" style air box to go behind the Racing Solution style grill, which, please correct me if I'm wrong, looks alot like the piece w/ the fog lights in it that was brought up earlier. Some type of "union" between the grill and the air intake, possibly holding the filter, would be KILLER!

rollotomassi

I believe the piece above the license plate is already in production, possibly in the parts section here. I saw it somewhere. I'm sure we could all use a cheaper one, though!

That license plate cowl is like $75 or some ridiculous price like that. Make one for $30 and I'll think about buying one.

I know the link calls them "fender spats," but in my dealings with old skool customs and hot rods, I've always known them as fender skirts.
So I guess that was a request for production of cf fender skirts.

dgHotLava
11-15-2004, 02:37 AM
in the trucking world we call them fender flares...
skirts go under the door sills, not above tires...

rollotomassi
11-15-2004, 02:48 AM
Flares go around the edge of the wheel opening-

Skirts cover most of the rear wheel and have to be removed (usually) to change the tire. Used on Customs in the '50s (example: '50 Mercury Coupe) and offered as a factory option on vehicles like my '64 Impala SS.

sub box that replaces both spare and storage?
I am currently working on makinrg this for my car, but I am sure there are people that would love that. I built one for my VW GTI 1.8T. Everyone that saw it told me I should sell. Would be nice but would make more money than doing my current job (hydrogeologist).

I second the shelf idea -- like the Pace-Edwards Shelf-it (http://www.pace-edwards.com/othersi.asp#shelfit). The car has a ton of headroom and ... er... forehead room in the front (the windshield feels like it's a couple feet from your head). It would be nice to put that room to use.

Cheaper fender flares would also be nice. I oh so like the look of Gene's (aLL STaR gene) Work Equip 01's and fender flares.

THANKS FOR REPLYING. I HAVE THEM ALL IN CONSIDERATION. I HAVE COME OUT WITH CARBON OEM FENDERS AS WELL AS A UNIVERSAL SPLITTER THAT FITS THE WHOLE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT BUMPER. I THINK NEXT PRODUCT WILL BE THE WIPER COWL EVERYONE SEEMS TO WANT THAT :D

wiper cowl . whats the point of that? doing what with it? making another cheap plastic waste of space?oh and completely carbon fibered fenders is retarded. just an expensive piece wiating to get broken and or stolen. would look retarded having that large of a piece being a different color than the rest of the body. maybe i'm the only one but thats what i think

a lot of people have requested the wiper cowl and the fenders but i mean what parts would you like to see made in carbon

dgHotLava
11-16-2004, 01:45 AM
wiper cowl is cool.
just 'cause you need a place to store your junk don't bash an original idea!
and that shelf is avail as a generic fit in plastic, why do you need it in carbon fibre???

another idea is a rigid shelf for the trunk area. it is really some thing i miis. (pt cruisers have a rigid shelf)

I was always under the impression that carbon fiber was used for parts that needed to be light weight and strong. Do we need a strong a lightweight cowl cover? Some on could make that in ABS plastic. It would be much cheaper.

Don't get me wrong. The C/F is cool looking, but the fuel doors and the c/f tape to put on the rear hatch struts, and the rear view mirror cover, etc.....come on.

Maybe the 2.0 shouldn't be yellow. They should find a way to paint it carbon fiber.

yes, CF is for light weight parts (as for strong, a lot of the parts i have seen are weaker than the stock they replace. its all due to the manufaturing process. no autoclave)

the cowl is alread plastic, so why do it over in the same material?

i don't do fake (aka, tape), i also dont put dash overlays that are cf (or wood grain) stickers.
its a full replacement or it goes in the trash.

so, if i can get something in/on my car replaced with a more exotic material (yes CF is exotic, how many fords or chevys are made out of CF???), i am all for it.

^^IMO

of course you could use the same arguement about everything else. a radio is for listening to programs. why does it need to be replaced, it already picks up programs...

How about a replica of the stock spoiler in CF?
If you could sell it for less than stock it would make a lot of sense. It woudl be really cool if you offered it with different colors in the weave to match teh more popular paint schemes.

I'm with you on the fake crap & the overlays. There's definetely no point to that stuff. When I mentioned the cowl cover out of ABS, I was under the impression that someone was reffering to a cover to hide the wiper arms, etc from view. I should have been more clear. My bad.

I'm currently fabricating a "RAM AIR" style air box to go behind the Racing Solution style grill, which, please correct me if I'm wrong, looks alot like the piece w/ the fog lights in it that was brought up earlier. Some type of "union" between the grill and the air intake, possibly holding the filter, would be KILLER!
weapon r intakes have a cold air sheild that a ram air kit fits on to. unfortunatly routing the ram air some place in the grill is not easy at all (lots of mods needed). right now im looking into getting aluminum 3 inch tube that hooks onto the cold air shield drops down 4-6 inches and bends at a 90 degree angle and then hook up the ram air scoop to that. so far the tube (if i can get it custom made) will run about 20-30 dollars and the the rubber hose connector will run about 20 dollars and if doesnt hang to low will work . i will let you know how it goes . man i hope it works!!!!!
