Default Dumb question! What goes in that third switch position???

Hi,

I just bought an xB last week and it came with the Vehicle Stability Control switch in the center of a three switch set to the low left of the steering wheel. I added fog lights and that filled the left most of that three switch set. This has left me very curious as to what switch is expected to drop into the remaining position -- rightmost of the three.

Anybody know ?

its not the first time that toyota has left empty KO plates all over the car. i am thinking that toyota has designed that extra knockout for us to install switches and stuff. the old xB had 2 or so extra in the same area

It's for whatever you want to put in that needs an auxiliary switch, such as aftermarket reverse lights to make up for that POS single light in the rear bumper!

posibilties, 1: scion security, 2: under dash illuminations controls.

but i know on mine i have one black key spot, i have fogs, scion security, and underdash illuminations, so i have a forth blank panel that i don't have a gadget toggle switch. i imagine that lots of people might do something like a nitrouse purge or something.

i thought the security LED went on the knockout next to the shifter. and i read up on the illumination a while back and they are supposed to install a pushbutton next to the first cupholder.

that still leaves the third one out...

::edit:: crapola. i thought you had a xb2 yeah the tc has 4 knockouts but kinda proved my point of toyota putting knockouts everywhere.

yeah, on the tc, the put the illumination switch on the key blank next to the other ones, i noticed on my gf's xa, that it is down by the parking brake.

okay, so that leaves the security led.

Yes, I also installed the security system and as you say, it uses the knockout to the right of the shifter. I also read the 4N1 illumination instructions and read the same thing -- switch on the center console. (2nd Generation xB)

I suppose that's nice Toyota leaves un-utilized switch knockouts, but I just wouldn't have expected it. Still, extra positions also provide them with more flexibility in adding further options! (I wonder what switch requiring options the Corolla Rumion has that the xB2 doesn't ?)

lesee, I've got traction control, fogs, underdash illumination. Then on the center console (where I removed the ipod and aux jacks to inside) there is underbody led, and navi bypass. that leaves me with one last knockout, I'm debating on the security led or the bass ****
