Yanki01 02-10-2008, 07:14 PM shouldn't have any CEL's as long as you install it right. Depends on how much you want to spend aswell. My girlfriend has the brand new style eclipse, I got her the injen cold air, I installed it with out removing front bumper even though directions say you have to, I just unfastened the inner fender well. GammaTNT 02-10-2008, 07:53 PM some people didn't need to remove the bumper, But i removed the bumper during my install. It wasn't hard to remove. CSUnited14 02-10-2008, 08:00 PM /\/\/\ But you half to be careful with the tc and injen cai i get rattles but i fixed it but be aware but injen sounds alot better deez 02-10-2008, 08:01 PM Yeah, might might as well get the injen, where was the rattles coming from CSUnited14 02-10-2008, 08:03 PM i have vids on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/CSUnited14 CSUnited14 02-10-2008, 08:04 PM Rattles come from the cai section doing through the fender well its a tight fit soo it hits the sides the supplied rubber is crap and fell off... but Doc I makes a part to fix all that as well.. http://doctorisotope.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=29 deez 02-10-2008, 08:21 PM So when I buy the intake I should buy that part and install it at same time right?!?! CSUnited14 02-10-2008, 08:24 PM yea i would helps prevent rattles... because it moves on rubber washer things so it has some travel with motor moving from first. deez 02-10-2008, 08:39 PM Okay cool good to know. beedee 02-11-2008, 12:15 AM i got the injen with the dr. isotope panel and havent had any 'bumping' issues at all. car_ram_rod 02-11-2008, 12:26 AM Yeah I have a K&N and after a year the top bracket broke. Dr. Isotope holds the intake better than the stock bracket with no rattles. Def. worth it SciontCya 02-11-2008, 12:36 AM Check out the classifieds here - there are a few CAIs for sale, including a TRD and my Fujuta. You can save some money... I think it's all about the price and the look you liek - they're fairly comparable really. scionteecee 02-11-2008, 01:42 AM INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN scion_jon 02-11-2008, 01:49 AM lol black TRD intake yeah right.... crush02342002 02-11-2008, 02:15 AM I have to say the injen cai will make you smile when hit the gas, it makes the engine sound soooooo much better. Definitly want to watch for it ratteling, I had mine done at the dealership and the stupid rubber trim that goes on the fender fell off, but the dealership took care of me and put some weather striping in its place and everythings fine so far. jsmillie07 02-11-2008, 02:19 AM I have the TRD cai and i love it. Its a good intake and it comes with a bypass vavle, but i also got mine new for $285. SciontCya 02-11-2008, 02:38 AM lol black TRD intake yeah right.... The TRD CAI is black chrome. scion_jon 02-11-2008, 02:55 AM uh yeah i know, but that one link said black as in black black. SciontCya 02-11-2008, 02:57 AM Well, if you look in the small pix, it is black. Could be a rebadged AEM, or maybe a powder-coated one, but it's black. scion_jon 02-11-2008, 02:58 AM um yeah I own one so... http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/scion_jon1/772007006-2.jpg SciontCya 02-11-2008, 03:00 AM And? What does that prove? You have one and the one for sale looks different, and does the one I have. Yup, got one too. So... scion_jon 02-11-2008, 03:01 AM and? deez 02-11-2008, 03:13 AM Will stick to INJEN Cold Air with the Dr I's little panel thing for it, might order an air diversion panel for my car too while im shopping there ;) tCeeder 02-11-2008, 03:27 AM i have the injen cai and love it, the sound, everything. looks great too. do yourself a favor and remove the bumper and driver side wheel (both only take a few minutes), if not you're going to have a hard time. deez 02-11-2008, 03:38 AM Ahh, I was going to leave the bumper. tCeeder 02-11-2008, 03:50 AM trust me take it off, you'll damage the piping really badly if you don't, and only taking off the wheel really doesn't help that much. deez 02-11-2008, 03:52 AM Alrighty, My uncle has a lift in his garage, should help a little. Can I just "undo" the drivers side of the bumper? I hear night mares about aligning the bumper back up properly tCeeder 02-11-2008, 03:56 AM ^ can't really undo one side and bend it away, that will just screw the bumper up. the bumper just snaps right back into position, no aligning problems. i was relieved at how easily it just popped back on. feel free to try it without removing it, just trying to save you a headache. deez 02-11-2008, 04:32 AM No i'm sure i'll just take it off now. ;) Thanks alot tophers_tC 02-11-2008, 11:20 PM i installed my fujita cai without taking my bumper off, and by just removing the tire and holding back the fender cover. It was really easy. Took me probably a total of 35-40 minutes.. im taking the fujita off and installing an injen this weekend the same way. I recommend leaving the bumper on, but to each his own. SciontCya 02-11-2008, 11:24 PM You just put on a Fujita, and you're taking it off for an Injen? Why? deez 02-11-2008, 11:44 PM I'd like to know also, I'll scope it out with the bumper on first I guess, idk i'll see what it looks like. CSUnited14 02-11-2008, 11:47 PM i took my bumper off just makes it alot easier... But i mean its not hard to take the bumper off just time consuming... deez 02-12-2008, 12:05 AM Yeah true.. tophers_tC 02-12-2008, 02:43 AM it was tripping my CEL and Im tired of looking at it. It does it on some tC's but not all. I guess i was one of the unlucky ones. I'm selling it if anyone is interested! lol deez 02-12-2008, 03:05 AM I hope that won't happen with my Injen. I wont be happy. tophers_tC 02-12-2008, 03:10 AM I haven't heard of this problem with the Injen's, hence why I switched to that one now...It's weird though, not everyone had a CEL...unno.. :shrugs: CSUnited14 02-12-2008, 03:22 AM nah Injen is good very high quality just bad rattles lmao deez 02-12-2008, 03:23 AM It'll rattle with the Dr I's fender plate thing? marx_tc602 02-12-2008, 03:25 AM just get a fujita. deez 02-12-2008, 03:40 AM UGH NAH THANKS. I'd get weapon R before some Fujita stuff. deez 02-12-2008, 03:41 AM TRD OR INJEN, I was told injen is the way to go. I'm not settling for Fujita. I'd run stock air box before a Fujita. SciontCya 02-12-2008, 03:48 AM Based on what? You crack me up - it's an aluminum tube with a filter. And FWIW, the stock box is probably better than any of the CAIs so why waste ANY money on one? deez 02-12-2008, 04:25 AM If fujita is so good why sell yours, I've seen problems with fujita, if i dont wanna put one on my effin car whats the big deal, i dont tell u what to put on ur car. from what i have seen in person Fujita is garbage. BZinn1 02-12-2008, 04:35 AM The Ingen CAI gives you one thing the others does not.........the ability to make it a SRI like the Weapon R.......this is great in the fall when the rains come.......... Ingen is a nice big tube and really looks great and has a great sound to it also........when it is in SRI it sounds as good as the Weapon R.........but when it is in CAI it is a pretty mean sound too.............I went with Weapon R mainly cause I am too lazy to pop off the tire and clean my filter............and I have no garage and living in an apartment I don't like to pop the hood so everyone can see what there is to steal......LOL Go Ingen you will like it........ deez 02-12-2008, 04:40 AM thanks bud SciontCya 02-12-2008, 05:17 AM If fujita is so good why sell yours, I've seen problems with fujita, if i dont wanna put one on my effin car whats the big deal, i dont tell u what to put on ur car. from what i have seen in person Fujita is garbage. Whatever... I'm selling it because I got another one as a gift, and I can't use this as a short ram. Nothing at all wrong with the quality, don't know what you've "seen" that shows otherwise. scion_jon 02-12-2008, 05:25 AM i got TRD cause of warranty, i alreday had my bypass valve replaced for free. ppl say warranty isnt an issue, but ive read countless threads where dealers wont work on cars or whatever cause of mods, even mods that have nothing to with the problem your having with your car. like that guy that had hvac light issues, and the dealer wouldnt work on his car cause he red led foot well lights (lame) so thats why I say TRD, just so the dealer doesnt give a me hard time. SciontCya 02-12-2008, 05:27 AM There may be some odd logic to that. Not on your part, but on behalf of the dealers, which are tools. scion_jon 02-12-2008, 05:29 AM yeah they can be hard to deal with, but im happy with my intake, it was the only one i wanted anyways, not having the dealer or a dealer hassel me about it is a plus. SciontCya 02-12-2008, 05:32 AM The TRD is the best-looking, hands down. TRD is quality stuff, er AEM? :) scion_jon 02-12-2008, 05:35 AM yeah haha AEM, I used to have a link of the AEM when it first came out for the tC, had the AEM badge and all in the pic, but I cannot find it. was interesting to see lol. deez 02-12-2008, 03:52 PM I was told AEM doesn't make one for the 08 :( SengTC3 02-12-2008, 05:22 PM AEM makes CAIs for TRD I believe, TRD just badges them. deez 02-12-2008, 06:05 PM I see. JamesTC_Silver 02-12-2008, 06:10 PM i have an 08 tc and i have the black injen intake, but i dont run cold air i run short ram because of alot of rain in WA....its good SengTC3 02-12-2008, 06:36 PM it's scary to see watermarks on my injen cai tubing near the motor haha deez 02-12-2008, 08:08 PM Ok... Ukno0003 02-14-2008, 12:33 AM Injen, the sound it makes man is awsome. I have one it it will rattle a little bit not much, and it only hits in one spot so Im goin to glue a rubber piece to the spot where its hittin to take out the rattling. Injen will give you the most gains/best sound/ and its cheaper then the TRD. You can get the injen on without takin off the bumber trust me I did it. I got mine for 279 from trd sparks shipped for free. And dont worry bout hydrolockin really, if you arnt goin through puddles that are really deep you will be fine. So injen FTW SengTC3 02-14-2008, 12:53 AM I got mines for $230 new at a local shop =D haha but damn wtf I had to take out the bumper to install haha deez 02-14-2008, 04:33 AM CSUnited14 02-14-2008, 06:12 AM injen sounds the best did you hear mine on my youtube videos?? i have a video of the intake SengTC3 02-14-2008, 06:14 AM Hey CSUnited, just wondering, when you got your crank pulley installed, did you feel a big difference in your acceleration or was it just a tid bit different? CSUnited14 02-14-2008, 06:19 AM Well its hard to say since its been awhile but i Personally Felt a pretty nice Pull in rpms when getting on it... But it could be my butt dyno or whatever.. It actually took awhile for me to really notice the difference of it.. but it seems that the rpms do run through the gears faster. scion_jon 02-14-2008, 10:41 AM lil clips of the TRD CAI and TRD exhaust sound while driving... http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/scion_jon1/th_0-70_0001.jpg (http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/scion_jon1/?action=view¤t=0-70_0001.flv) http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/scion_jon1/th_TRDIntake.jpg (http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/scion_jon1/?action=view¤t=TRDIntake.flv) ill make better ones once im off krutches.... deez 02-14-2008, 03:32 PM scion_jon 02-14-2008, 03:45 PM whatever SciontCya 02-14-2008, 04:37 PM Ugh, Automatic? :blah: CarbonXe 02-14-2008, 04:41 PM Wow that's the first time I've ever seen the Auto...glad I got the 5spd  . SciontCya 02-14-2008, 04:42 PM Yeah, well sit in LA traffic 4-hours a day and you'd love it! CarbonXe 02-14-2008, 04:43 PM Yeah, well sit in LA traffic 4-hours a day and you'd love it! I'm from Jersey, it's just as crowded here :P . SengTC3 02-14-2008, 04:43 PM Ok to break teh tension... haha. Before installing your intake, if you plan on buying the injen water repellent cone cover or the AEM bypass valve, I advise you to buy it and install it the same time as the intake. I have the cone cover but too lazy to take everything apart to install it haha and please no one reply with "you don't need to worry about hydrolock, just avoid puddles or deep rain" blah blah blah b/c we all know that, just telling him if he chooses to buy it, it'd be easier to install the same time as the intake than wait, which was my mistake... SengTC3 02-14-2008, 04:44 PM I dont mind stick in traffic... I just Fning hate it on hills WITH traffic haha =[ SciontCya 02-14-2008, 05:01 PM I lived back east for 20 years - you got more toxic waste, but not more traffic  deez 02-15-2008, 05:25 AM Skeletor 02-15-2008, 05:53 AM i like arizona. |
