View Full Version : Another new xD owner (pics)
zapped 02-11-2008, 04:18 PM Purchased last Thursday Feb 7th here in Central Texas. Too busy driving it to post pictures until today. If the imagshack links are cranky, just click on my Picasaweb album (http://picasaweb.google.com/d3zapped/ScionXD).
Man, I'm so happy to not have a black car to keep clean anymore. $1 at the local carwash and it looks new again :)

CRUZtc8 02-11-2008, 04:22 PM Congrats on the car!
VetteSlayer 02-11-2008, 08:56 PM Congrats!! It looks great!
ChelsDS 02-11-2008, 10:50 PM Those don't look like the stock alloys for the xD. What are those?
Oh and it looks nice too! :)
moaiD 02-12-2008, 05:12 AM nice ride!!...is that the stock rear roof spoiler on the xD?? it looks much bigger...
01msmis 02-12-2008, 05:23 AM very nice color. congrats!
ChelsDS 02-12-2008, 07:22 AM nice ride!!...is that the stock rear roof spoiler on the xD?? it looks much bigger...
No its the upgraded spoiler. :)
Bennyboy 02-12-2008, 07:46 AM Where do you get 1 dollar car washes??
zapped 02-12-2008, 02:02 PM Thanks for the congrats! Now to answer some questions...
Spoiler: yep, it's the upgrade. I could have saved quite a bit ordering it from http://trdparts4u.com but I went the lazy route & fed the dealer.
Wheels: those are the dealer-installed stock alloys. I ordered the standard $795 MSRP package. My understanding is that the wheels and spoiler were installed at the port in Houston since the dealer didn't have my exact configuration on their lot.
$1 car washes - I know, they've all gone up, haven't they? Well, a Budget Lube oil change place in NW Austin has a self-wash kiosk with 5 or 6 bays & still charges $1 for 4 minutes. $0.25 for each add'l minute, but I don't need it with a 2.5min soap & 1.5min rinse. Plenty of soap in the mix and hot water too. I like!
I really like the color too, not just because it's anything-but-black. You might notice in the pictures almost a brownish hue with the light coming off my house & wintry trees. Yet in bright sunshine and other environs it can take on a really steely grey shade. Never a dull moment :)
jdgriswald 02-12-2008, 04:08 PM Looks like you paid $795 for Enkeis. If they represented those as Scion factory wheels, they need to be set straight.
BTW car looks great....welcome.
Murbyrne 02-12-2008, 04:41 PM congrats, looks nice. Any mods planned?
JDMJim 02-12-2008, 07:01 PM hah, I got mine in the same color a day later minus the spoiler. nice car really. little more space than my 1st gen xB

Oh, I see what you're saying. Clearly the Enkei logo matches my alloys exactly:

Here's a closeup of my wheels:

The dealer-installed Enkeis were indeed represented as the Scion stock alloys. I'll have to check my sales invoice to see if they used the internal Toyota product code as well, which I believe is PT904-52083 based on another post here (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=198080&highlight=enkei).
Cut to the chase, though- are the Enkeis generally considered inferior to the Toyota stock alloys? Should I complain to the dealer or to the Scion area rep?
Either way, I do like 'em & don't really feel terribly abused :P
jdgriswald 02-12-2008, 09:53 PM Not an inferior product at all, but if you paid for the Scion wheels, all things considered, you should have them. Resale will tend to be a little higher with factory wheels compared to aftermarket as well.
zoltiz 02-12-2008, 11:32 PM Yeah, I'd ask for the wheels that are on scion.com - IMHO they look way better than standard South East Toyota Enkeis that they put on everything they can fit em on.

I want to let oyu know that the xB TRD rims were Racing Harts and it said so on the rim. The RS1 tC had Enke'is as well as the RS1 xA. So what if it says Enkei. it's irrelevant. No one got taken for a ride.

Never had a problem with the Enkeis. It's all about representation. If he was sold that part number, then he didn't get what he paid for, especially compared to the SET Enkeis.
Zillon 02-15-2008, 10:13 PM The option wheels on the 1G xB and xA were Enkeis as well (known as the Enkei EM-7 and EP-10).
They're option wheels, just they don't have a Scion centercap.
xDevious 02-16-2008, 02:16 AM zack FTW!

Good points from everyone. Kind of a nit either way I suppose.
I spoke to the dealer last week & the official Scion alloys have been ordered. I'll take a look at them when they come in & if I decide the keep the Enkeis, I'm sure the dealer can pop 'em on another xD in the lot.
On a side-note, had 3M tint applied to sides & back last week. Really dresses it up!
turner 02-18-2008, 10:46 AM So were the totally sweet flame stickers stock also??
zapped 02-18-2008, 03:27 PM So were the totally sweet flame stickers stock also??
Nice catch! I've been waiting for somebody to mention those.
They're not stock, and they seem to add about 10hp to the car's performance :P
xDeviant 02-18-2008, 03:46 PM congratulations !!
grey looks great on the xD and I love those wheels.....best of luck with your ride !! 8)
xDevious 02-18-2008, 04:11 PM ahhh you stole my name!!!
xDeviant 02-18-2008, 04:18 PM xdevious is cool ...... sounds like mischevious :P
xDevious 02-18-2008, 04:20 PM haha thanks. i knew someone was gonna come up with a similar name soon enough :P
I believe Gulf States distribution is located in Houston. They do not offer the really good looking stock xD wheels. What you have is what they offer--it sucks. My Yaris has inferior looking wheels from Gulf States instead of the Toyota wheels.
Someone here said you have to 'get on them' to get the right wheels but most parts departments are too lazy to cooperate.
I feel sure they don't offer the 'good' wheels because they make more off the Enkei's.

WHAT????? I would have thought at least 73.29er.... o well my bad... but in all seriousness you car looks really nice. I like it man.

The true stock xD alloys (not the Enkeis) came in last week and were installed by my local dealer. They look nice, are Scion badged in the center, and seem marginally easier to clean. No charge for the swapout of course.
I probably should snap a picture to show the new wheels and the 3M tint but don't have 'em right now.

Congratulations. Glad you held them to it. Look forward to the pics.

WhAT % tint did you go with, I am getting it done tomorrow, and stock wheels will be here on Wednesday......
xDevious 03-18-2008, 01:32 AM i have 30%. it looks nice i think! dark enough, but not dark enough to get pulled over in most states.
ChelsDS 03-18-2008, 01:34 AM On my two fronts i have 30% and 15% on the rear windows. Haven't been pulled over yet so.. hopefully I won't be for a long time or ever lol.
CrAWlSpAcE 03-18-2008, 01:41 AM I think I will get 35% all the way around...Here in Utah you can have 35% on the back and 50% on the fronts but I probably can skate with 35% on the front so it looks even.
zapped 03-20-2008, 07:48 PM Here's a couple of shots with the new Scion 16" wheels. The direct overhead sunlight boosted the contrast so much I won't post the other pictures showing tint - they look not-so-good.

jdgriswald 03-20-2008, 08:13 PM IMO much nicer than the Enkeis. WTG
ChelsDS 03-21-2008, 01:03 AM Yes, much better than those Enkeis :)
shea43 03-21-2008, 04:19 AM Ooo, I still like those. Much better than the Enkeis.
hwybox 03-27-2008, 08:34 PM Yea i agree those look alot better than what you had.
