i am planning to change my wheels.
i found nice wheels with the specs:
Size: 17x7
PCD: 4x100
Weight: 17lbs(about 7.6kg)

i know it will fit well. but my question : is the weight good(light or heavy)? should i go lighter? whats the weight of your wheels guys & girls? whats your comments about heavy or light wheels?
whats the advantages & disadvatages of having a light or heavy wheel?

i am so confused  i am afraid i confused you too people...

yes having a lighter wheel is better and you should always replace your wheels with lighter wheels.

right now i have 15" rota slipstreams which weigh about 14 lbs or so w/o the tire. so for a set of 17" rims to weigh 17lbs... thats pretty good.

the advantages of having a lighter wheel is that the power used to turn the wheel isn't as wasted as turning a wheel thats heavier...

What he said.

But putting on a heavier wheel, you increase what is called rotational mass. It will be harder for the car to move that mass of the wheel. The difference should not be too bad but lighter wheels are deffinatly the way to go.

Not only will you feel the difference in acceleration, but also in the suspension.

lighter wheels will make it easier for the suspension to follow irregularitys in the road, thereby keeping the tires on the road more in turns, therefore giving more traction.

remember it's not all just about weight, but where the majority of the weight is. . . for instance, a 17lb 15in rim will probably put less drain on power than a 15lb 17in rim, as the majority of the weight is on the outside edge of the wheel. Just watch figure skate dancers spin; when they put their arms out, they slow down. But once they pull their arms in (without adding any extra force), they immediately speed up a lot, even tho their weight remains the same.
So in terms of a well built wheel, weight and weight distribution is very important.

For a street fashionable wheel, it's ok I guess in weight.

If it's for competition, autox, or your looking for the best, then that's heavy. 16x7 SSR wheels are 11lbs. 17" SSRs can't be far off.
