Default Add-on advice for a new(used) '04 XB owner - please help! :)

HI everyone. I live in Michigan and may be picking up a pre-owned 2004 XB soon! There's one close to me at a good price in the dark hunter green and I may pull the trigger and pick it up. I can't wait!

My question is what add-on or OEM elements would everyone recommend adding on? I've been doing some researching, and knowing the '04 came pretty stock (no alloys, spoiler, fogs), I'm considering adding those 3 elements. Good idea? At least the fog lights add some function and style

Other than that how does everyone feel about the Cold Air Intake?

Center arm rest with storage (is the storage here even an option?

Euro Tail lights?

Map light up front? Trunk hatch light?

Overhead storage compartment (is one of these even available)?

Are there any other add-ons that would be recommended to make the car nicer, function or look better? What are your opinion of the ones listed above?

I'd like to pick up many of these items at a good price, and alltogether if possible to upgrade this puppy all at once. Is Ebay the best route to go, or is there one site I could bulk order many of these things at a good price?

Thanks so much everyone. I'm glad to be a part of these forums. Reply and help me get my Scion up to speed with all of yours Smile Looking forward to joining the brotherhood.

good one. I dig the moon roof option. Just didn't bring it up. Where would you recommend going? I've never seen that as a factory option, so who's a trusted resource to install?

There is so much offered now for the first gen, the possibilities are endless. Its basically what you are looking to do. Show ... Go ... or a little of both.

I would suggest that you look into the following.

Suspension ... Progress springs, front strut bar, rear sway bar and 10 MM spacers if you can find them.

Wheels and tires.

Intake. I would suggest the Injen short ram intake. Easy to install, and the filter sits behind the drivers head light and not near the ground.

Upgrade the stereo and speakers. Go to Wally World and buy your speakers there. I bought all my Pioneer speakers there along with the amps and absolutly love the sound quality. Didnt cost much either.

From there you can go with a tail ... LEDs ... air ride ... TVs ... Navi ... like i said, the possibilities are endless.

Good Luck.

Sorry about that bro. I was new to the boards and thought the questions was better suited for this thread after I'd posted the first time. It won't happen again.

CBSIMONSEZ - thanks for the feedback.

I think I'm going to start by upgrading outward appearance, with any recommended performance items as well (cold air intake).

So, with the Injen Short Ram intake does that make a noticeable difference? Is it basically for a little more pep? And is it easy enough to install myself?

Next on my list will be the 15" Alloys and tires.

Then tail lights. What would you guys recommend, euro's or LEDs?

And finally a spoiler. The '04 i'm looking at is the dark green, I'm thinking one of the black carbon spoilers on Ebay would look good, thoughts?

Have you guys updated the interior lighting at all in yours? Any overhead storage available that works well?

Then i'll get to the stereo. Not sure we have a Wally World around here, but I'll check. What setup would you recommend?

thanks guys, keep the recommendations coming. I need to start my checklist.

I voted wheels just because it makes a huge impact on the look.
If you want to improve on the choppy ride you can replace the struts and shocks for Monroe units for 200 bucks if ya do it yourself. The stock ones are set way too stiff.
Whatever you do, avoid buying anything from the dealer. It can all be had online from other sources and the money saved can be spent on other area. Good luck and happy modding. You will find it very addictive to say the least.

I've never attempted anything that complex on a car, but for $200 I like the sounds of it.

Anyone else? Keep the input coming...

Fist off; get it, so us Michigan cats can hang out, and secondly, I can give you a bunch o' ideas for the box, but whatever you do, don't buy them from the dealer.... They're WAY cheaper at other places!

First thing for me would be lowering springs, wheels and tint. If you want factory accessories go to www.trdsparks.com and save a ton of money.

A combination of an axle back and an intake may help you gain about 5-7 HP.

Check here and on the other Scion forums under the classifieds sections. Check Ebay too. I bought a set of Scion Twists for $400 with tires shipped a couple years back.

LED looks nice, but tails would be one of my last mods.

Be careful buying spoilers. Anything other the OEM has a tendancy not to fit very well. When you do decide to install, consider using 3M outside double sided tape and not drilling holes into your trunk. I have seen several trunks that end up looking like Swiss cheese once the install of a wing is done.

Interior lighting is easy. Just pick out what color you like and install some LEDs. At one time i had over 60 installed through out my interior. Try Oznium.com for your interior LEDs and Cathodes. No overhead compartments. If your handy with fiberglass, then make one, its not that hard.

By Wally World i mean WalMart. I went with the upgraded Pioneer speakers and a Sony head unit.

Basically look on every classified section you can. If your not sure about something or someone, ask. Now is the right time as people cant give basic stuff away, and most are eager to sell.

Where in Michigan are you?

Also first thing first get the car drive it a while and then make a decision.
For most impact this order...

1) drop it
2) new wheels
3) headlight/fogs
4) interior mods

CAI not worth the money as your first mod. If you buy a cheap EBAY one it will probably harm you more than help you.

Couple more suggestions, search here for free mods, join clubxb.com to search for more free mods and parts and finally make sure you do the mods you want for you not because someone told you to.

Thanks man. I'm in Grand Rapids Michigan. Going to check out the Green XB today. I dig your white one. That'd be my first color choice, but i dig them all.
