Default Replacing parts w/ aftermarkets while in body shop

Hello!

As you may know, my lovely co worker decided to back up and hit my car at work. So basically, my hatch, bumper, driver side tail light, and maybe the quarter panel is dented. Now, what I'm trying to do is... instead of replacing my driver side tail light with the stock tail light, I'm trying to get them to replace it with the TYC. The body shop I'm going to does stuff for the Toyota dealership near my house so I know they can easily get the parts. How would I go about doing that? Do you think I can just pay the difference or is there a better way of doing this?

Thanks.

Your insurance company or hers can cut either you or the shop a check to pay for parts...........then go buy parts.........

It usually depends on who is paying for it. In all the experiences I have had, the shops ask first who is paying, then set the price They charge more if they know an insurance company is paying many times.

talk to the body shop... ive done that twice now when the other persons insurance paid for it... they really shouldnt care since it does not affect the amount they are paying... you will have to pay the difference obviously but thats expected. DO IT UP

so i went for it. i got the tyc tail light. the original price is 325 and i only have to pay 175 for it because the stock tail light is 150 so they subtracted the price. i'll post up pictures of my accident and the after pictures when i can.
