The free oil change does not incude tire rotation. Yes you can go to any quicklube for that price but they will not rotate your tires for you. $20 is a fair price to rotate them for you.

Rotate with out balance for $20?!

That's nuts. I would knee someone in the jewels for insulting me with that price.

Do the math. It takes about 15 mins to rotate the tires. Most dealerships charge $80/hr for the work they do. $20 is 1/4th of $80... makes sense to me.

Remember too that if you ever have a waranty problem with your tires they very first thing they will ask is if you had them rotated every 5,000 miles. If you say yes they will want you to prove it. A receipt from a dealership or repair shop is the best proof.

Why are you complaning, your getting a free oil change! Of course the tire rotation is overpriced, but hell get your oil change and go somewhere else for the rotation.

Time equals Money. They spend their time, they want money. If you've got time and want to save money, drive around and find the best deal. Personally, sometimes it's better just to get it done. But I don't have a lot of free time.

Altho, for my Box, I bought a floor jack and torque wrench ($15 each) and do it myself. Mainly cuz i don't trust some grease monkey to take the same care with my wheels that i would...

The rotation wasn't a condition of getting the free oil change. You're combining two different offers.

BTW, what would be an acceptable price for a rotation? $10? $15? How much $$ are you going to save by the time you burn gas, drive somewhere else and then get in the back of their line. Why is it cheaper somewhere else? cuz their labor and overhead is cheaper. Now, is their labor cheaper because they have less experience or what?

alignment is free for first 12 months.

Alignment and rotation are 2 different things. Most service shops charge anywhere from $10 to $20, not just car dealerships. Places like Discount Tire do it for free because all they do is tire and wheel work. A dealership service department is just like any other company. They are around to make money. They do not do it for free because it takes up time during which the tech could be doing someone else's oil change. Everyone wants fast service and a reasonable price. The only way to have fast service is to hire enough people to get things done efficiently and quickly. The only way to hire more and keep a full staff is to pay them fairly. The only way to pay them fairly is to pay them for work they perform. Bottom line: if you don't want to pay that price, go somewhere else.

I just don't see how its a ploy. I could understand if they said free oil change with tire rotation. This however is giving you a choice of getting a free oil change or free oil change and tire rotation. I just asked one of the techs here at the dealership how long it took to do a tire rotation and he said it was about 15 minutes. At $70 an hour labor that would work out to be about right. So tell me, how is this a ploy?

oh wow.. generous... he spends 20K, he gets a few 'free' oil changes.

don't be fooled - they aren't free... you're just not directly paying for them.

15 minutes???? And they get to use a lift?? The tech must be getting an hourly. With a lift and pneumatic wrench - it's 5 minutes from the moment it hits the rack to pulling it back out. I've done it a 1000 times and it's not even what I do for a living - it's taken me 15 minutes before--- but I also re-balanced them before rotating them.

___ draggers.

But yeah - most dealers do charge about $80 an hour .... and they _____ and complain and ____ and moan and act like I punched their mother in the face when I charge them $50-60 an hour.
