Hi guys.. me and my friend are trying to install a cold air intake for my scion xA, but after installing it, "CHECK ENGINE" light appears.. engine seems to be choking, and the car limit me to rev up to 28000 rpm.. we put back the stock intake, but the problem is still there... can anyone help me? pls e-mail me @ gojan_22@yahoo.com. thanks..

Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for a few minutes. Then, start the engine and let it IDLE for 15 minutes. Everything should be reset and back to normal.

Is it an Injen CAI?

I've installed at least 12 of them w/ no problems.

1. we only run it for 5 minutes, nothing happens.. does it need to be 15 minutes?
2. yeah, it's a Injen CAI.. do you heard problems with Injens?
thanks..

I installed the Injen CAI. After the install, I started the car and threw a CEL (Check Engine Light). I turned off the car and unplugged the EFI fuse instead of taking the negative battery terminal off... I left it out for about 30 seconds. I plugged it back in, turned on the car and haven't thrown a CEL since...

Here's a tutorial on how to reset the ECU via the EFI fuse:

I have never had problems w/ Injen intakes. That's why I always recommend them.

Mikochu's fix is a good also, as it does not clear out your radio settings and trip odometer.

also, make sure you did not get the air-flow sensor dirty.

Or damage it in anyway when you installed it in the in intake.

ok, i'm gonna try it tomorrow.. thanks for the advice.. so, that "choking" sound, is that gonna go away after i do that? the idle is going 1000 and 2000 rpm, up and down, is that the ECU doing it? i'm might think that there's some kind of leak or leakage of air somewhere..
