View Full Version : Has anyone wrecked an xB?
Louisville327 11-15-2004, 09:04 AM Sooooo, has anyone had the misfortune to wreck their xB yet?
If so, what kind of crash was it (cars involved, speed, conditions), and how much damage was caused? I'm not interested in passenger safety, I'm interested in structural integrity. How did the xB hold up?
(Maybe everyone's been lucky and nobody has wrecked theirs yet...)
TheDanger 11-15-2004, 11:05 AM theres been many...I remember a post of a bunch of wrecked ones. They seem to hold up fine.
LowProMofo 11-15-2004, 12:25 PM My girlfriend wrecked mine 2 months ago. She side-swiped someone on the freeway and it just banged up two fenders and knocked the side-mirror off. Not bad at all. I thought it was going to be way worse.
squirrel 11-15-2004, 03:59 PM So far, out of all of the pics I've seen, the xB abosrbs alot of the impact, and its driver and passengers have survived and walked away from it.
Has anyone heard differently?
Fujiz_xb 11-15-2004, 04:36 PM did you guys see the TC all messed up? that was a your supposed to be dead crash..but the guy survived..
i seen alot of wrecked xb on here.. i wonder if mine will hold up since i did put a huge hole in it then covered it up with a panoramic moonroof.
MrLavaLava 11-15-2004, 04:37 PM Check mine out... I came out okay....

Holy crap.
Were you stopped when the semi hit you, or still moving?
Louisville327 11-15-2004, 05:01 PM Nevermind MrLavaLava, I just read your response in the post describing the accident.
I'm pretty surprised there wasn't more damage, to be honest.
superjeer 11-15-2004, 07:15 PM There's been a few. In everycase except the rig one there was a lot of damage to the box but little or none to the people in the box. seems to total easy.
erichlf 11-15-2004, 08:01 PM This is not an xb. This happened to me 26 December 2003.
I was hit by 2 trucks and thrown off the road into some trees. Surprisingly I only had a cut on my face and no one else was hurt.

Louisville327 11-15-2004, 08:12 PM Not really interested in anything but xBs, you know? I don't drive a Jetta.
JDMbB 11-15-2004, 08:15 PM i got hit by some chick in a jetta. she took off my whole front bumper but that was it. all i needed to do was get the front bumper replaced. she hit me front drivers side going about 30 mph. it looked like she peeled it right off.
britti 11-15-2004, 09:31 PM i was hit in the front and my bumper came off with one of my headlights falling out. we just put rope on the front bumper and i drove it to the toyota dealership to get fixed. should of been more damage but there wasn't. they also fixed one of my rims that they thought got scratched from the wreck.
pdrizzle 11-15-2004, 09:37 PM How did they fix the rim? Was it the factory 15"? What had you done to it for it to get messed up?
britti 11-15-2004, 10:21 PM ya it was the stock one, but am looking for some to buy. i was at an intersection with several cars, had to move over, and it was scratched from the curb. totally sucked, but is now fixed. that's the first car wreck i ever cried at b/c i love this car. haha
erichlf 11-15-2004, 11:53 PM My car was a total.
Not really interested in anything but xBs, you know?Hey if it were not for that wreck I wouldn't have the xB.
tripertripp 11-15-2004, 11:59 PM just another question im about to buy a scion xb and you have said that thiers been plenty of wrecks with xb's. but is that because of performacne or handling on the car or just wrong place at wrong time?
erichlf 11-16-2004, 12:02 AM Well it seems like the wrong place at the wrong time. Most of the accidents I have seen were rear endings.
tripertripp 11-16-2004, 12:11 AM well thanks for the info another thing im worried about is people looking at the thing while im driving. I mean when i took mine on a test drive i got so many looks. i want mine so bad ima get alot of chicks at least get alot looking.
erichlf 11-16-2004, 02:08 AM man so many people point and stare. You are going to have to get use to that.
Louisville327 11-16-2004, 02:53 AM My car was a total.
Hey if it were not for that wreck I wouldn't have the xB.
It's all becoming clear to me now.
Louisville327 11-16-2004, 02:55 AM man so many people point and stare. You are going to have to get use to that.
Seriously, the stare factor is ridiculous for such a small, unassuming car like the xB. I never had any idea until I got mine and started watching people on the road around me as I passed. People even point!
It's not like I bought a Lamborghini people, c'mon!
tripertripp 11-16-2004, 03:06 AM hey i see nothing negative about it i mean chicks are gonna think its cute as hell always a plus and damn if you can get someone to actually point at a car as if it was a lambo or a ferrari and you paid less than 20 for it thats hella cool
britti 11-16-2004, 04:51 AM i went to some races in houston the other night and got plenty of stares b/c everyone was at awe to see a girl driving an xB. it's crazy, but oh so much fun.

And at least it's far better than the reaction Hummer drivers get. They get pointed at with a different finger, if you know what I mean...

rock_the_sci 11-25-2004, 09:30 PM I think i might know of the craziest xB wreck thus far.... so im driving with my freind in his xB (luckily not mine).. and we are on the freeway when a car hits a a matress in there lane right in to our and irght in front of us.. we had no room to stop or move so he had no choice but to run it over. Well in trying to run it over it got stuck under his car and made us swerve all aorund and caused al ot fo friction.. as we finally stoped we got out and the mattress had caught on fire underneither and the car thne cuaght on fire.. in the end my finreds scion blew up.... fire dept came and put it out and he ended up with a new one about a month later but still.. craziest thing i was ever involved in.
u83rp5ych0 11-25-2004, 10:26 PM i got rear ended by a drunk doing about 60 on the intersate. I wasnt moving at all. The car held up fine. Link to pics in my sig

It's funny, but the wife and I were comming home from dinner the other night and I have this honda riding my bumper on the onramp for the interstate. So I figure that he must want to play, so I wind her up to around 90 and he is still with me. After about 5 miles I'm done playing and get in the slow lane to let him pass and it's this old couple about 70 and they both just point and stare. It was a LMAO moment.
wlingram 11-26-2004, 03:03 AM  Unfortnunately, this past Monday, some guy who was too busy doing something other than driving ramed his Sedan Deville into the rear of my xB. My 8 year old son was in the rear driver side seat. He has a high pain tolerence so when he let out a blood curdling scream and began crying, I was afraid to look back and see what condition he was in. After a minute or so he calmed down. I looked outside and I saw a coil spring rolling from left to right across the off ramp. I later learned that that spring was from the right rear of the xB. Both of us were pulled out of the car onto back boards, had cervical collars put on us and put in an ambulance and taken to the ER. The rear suspension was knocked out from under the car. The rear hatch was trashed as was the Borla Cat-back exhaust. The right rear door is jammed shut, the roofline buckled just above the right rear window, the right rear quarter-panel was driven into the right rear tire, the right rear shock tower was pushed over 5 or 6 inches to the left in the rear compartment and the rear seats are jammed in place. Right now I am not real sure that I will get another xB. The poor little thing was only 6 months old.[/url]
bBlover 11-26-2004, 03:05 AM Hopefully u guys are better.

scionmilktruck 11-26-2004, 10:58 AM I am actually curious how many Hot Lavas are left on the road now. I know that Mr.LavaLava's XB is KO'd, but are there others?
