View Full Version : spring compressor
v0lc0m85 11-15-2004, 11:36 PM is it possible to put the trd springs on a tc w/o having a spring compressor? i wanna get the springs from mc george parts for 118 but dont feel like spending the money to have them installed. has any one tried it, im sure its a pain in the ___. too bad i dont know any one with one to borrow one. if they are kinda cheap i might considering buying one
hotbox05 11-15-2004, 11:46 PM with a tc i believe u do . with the xa/xb ya dont really need one unless reinstalling stock springs. you can loan them from kragen's or auto-zone. pep-boys also loans tools
v0lc0m85 11-15-2004, 11:47 PM o damn lol i never thought about that thats a good idea thanks
hotbox05 11-15-2004, 11:50 PM yeah normally 43bucks then once u bring it back u get yer money back
MrLavaLava 11-16-2004, 02:42 AM Did a Tc this past Sat. and yes you do need the Spring Compressors... Just make sure not to use an Impact Gun on them as it can damage the springs and the compressors..... Good Luck on the install... I've got a manual in pdf format if you need any direction.... L8R....
BoomBox757 11-16-2004, 02:44 AM thats alittle slow, they did my box hella fast, I guess thats one of the great things about the xB
HawkINX4 11-16-2004, 02:47 AM took me about 3 hours to do my tc... like 45 minutes for the front two and then the rest on the back.. i got stuck lol, take in mind though i did this ALL by myself in my garage.. and i did use spring compressors
v0lc0m85 11-17-2004, 03:36 AM ok i suppose i can handel it. next paycheck ill buy the springs. im thiking of doing my caps red too while i got the wheels off
HawkINX4 11-17-2004, 03:39 AM i painted my calipers black.. that way i dont have to deal with them getting dirty.. i used to have red on my old car and they were dirty all the time and i couldnt get it off, so i decided to go with black
v0lc0m85 11-17-2004, 11:27 AM got any pics of that?
for the installation of the trds on the tC, you really only need the spring compressor for the rear set-up, and please remember to mark where the top and bottom pieces align. Or else your gonna have to re do the whole set-up again.
At the scion central here in norcal we charge 150.00 to install the springs and it takes us two hours on the dot. If you are in the are, you should just stop on by and we can handle the job for ya. :)
squirrel 11-17-2004, 05:00 PM You forgot the pizza/xBox fee gabe!
You forgot the pizza/xBox fee gabe!
  oh yeah I forgot about that! We are raising funds for the waiting room xbox, that will need testing in my office as soon as we get it. Testing is a long and harsh period too.
Don't worry everyone I don't charge hidden fees.
squirrel 11-17-2004, 05:13 PM For those who don't know, this is a running joke up here in Nor*Cal.

nibrobus 11-17-2004, 10:11 PM Hey Mr. LavaLava,
You think you could e-mail me your PDF instructions for the TRD spring install for the Tc? I'm gonna try to install them this weekend and I'd appreciate it.
Don't forget to cutt the bump stops on the front, or else bottom out city. :)
hotbox05 11-18-2004, 06:08 PM more like bump as hell city. bumpstops suck lol.i wouldnt figure such a small drop would put it on bumps tho. guess theyre really long bumps
yeah the front bump stops are really long. :D
squirrel 11-19-2004, 06:24 PM I never cut the bump stops on my xB when I had the Spy springs. Never had a bottoming problem either. Well, I scraped alot in SoCal on their speed bumps.
BoomBox757 11-19-2004, 10:22 PM They are talking about the tC. Unfortunately not everything is about our beloved xB
