I just dont see why spend the extra money and going through the trouble of fitting a hood when you can just put a FMIC and be done with it?

interesting to get this done, but with our car's design FMIC is so much easier plus its gets a good amount of air so it cools better

That Hood scoop looks to be a primarly for aesthetic appeal, as you can see around the scoop, the rest of the hood is normal height. Has the OP taken a look under his hood lately? Where do you propose you place the piping and more importantly the IC with that minimum space provided between the firewall, top of the engine, and the underside of the hood? I don't for see you being able to place a top mount on this car unless you place it near the front, but that would be defeating the purpose of it, as it would be positioned right above the High heat producing turbo kit assembly.

Also, top mounts aren't very efficent when it comes to cooling. Its hard to get a lot of air flow when the intercooler is sideways and pretty much blocked on the backside. That is why you see all the wrx guys switching to FMIC.

I saw a super charged tc in here before that had a top mount on it before. I'm thinking it was built by trd for show or something.

My friend ha a 98 Sentra with an SR20 out of a pulsar and it has a top mount. It is very ineficient. He has a very small turbo and runs lower boost and the temp under the hood is very high. I would only suggest doing it for show but honestly your not gainning anything

Yeah, it was a TRD intercooler. Or so it said on the intercooler. But I do believe it was only for show...

If you want a "top" mounted style IC you would be better off going to air to water ic set up.....especially with the "brawler" kit. A nice barrell style cooler in between the turbo and tb would be sick...................hmmm

The "aero" of a TC is not going to let you get the amount of air you need for that type of setup....regardless of the size of the scoop.

Todd

Yeah, I was going to mention the air to water setup, as that has been seen on a couple of tC's that wanted to remain sleeperish in look, but have the cooling still.

yeah a barrell intercooler for the basik brawler kid would be a great idea....but also front mount, the top mount yeah seems like a burden and alot of money and most likely innefficient, but still it woulda been cool to see it done. front mount seems like the best bet for any turbo set up on the tC, plus its awsome to come up on an unexpected evo or srt for and they see a tC w/ a fat intercooler and juicy piping sticking out of the fog lights loll

Yeah, there's a reason why the WRXs switch from the stock topmount to the front mount.

Didn't someone who had a ZPI kit for like 1 week have a barrel IC custom by Kenny?

but also front mount
The "brawler" with a front mount is called a "SIMPLE" kit.(minus the water/meth kit)

yeah a barrell intercooler for the basik brawler kid would be a great idea
Have to think about it........I have too many options as it is......but I would build it if someone wanted one
