All depends on the driving of the person. I would be refueling when there is one gallon left, not like my friend the other day when I was in his GTO, he had 9 miles left on the gas tank when he dropped me off, it takes 7 miles to get back to his apartment.

there is about 2 gallons left when the light comes on. so that is an extra 60 miles available.

yeah, how you drive plays a big part in it too. also if you do a lot of stop and go driving, which i don't.

220

I just drive around town mostly, I'm at a bit over 2,000 miles, and 90% of my trips are less than 2 miles long. I also have a pretty heavy foot. So far my best tank of gas has been around 19mpg

I believe around 280 also... I calculated that I've been filling with 12 gallons so aboue 23mpg average. I must be doing a lot of city driving going to and from school.

more info at: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/20647.shtml

how much can you really push the tank? I've always been filling it when the light goes on. Maybe I'm just paranoid like that. =| Anyone go another 30-50 miles? How far before filling up again?

Personally, in any fuel-injected car, I don't drive below a 1/4 tank. There's a lot more gunk in gasoline than you'd expect, especially in a new engine. When you break in any engine, metal shavings collect at the bottom of your fuel and oil tanks. If you run it down to empty, all that gunk gets sucked up from the bottom of your fuel tank and blown through the injectors.

Fuel mileage does depend on your driving habits. Try coasting off every stoplight when it turns green, and only gun the engine when you get up to about 30 or so. You'll be surprised how much gas you save.

I can usually get about 300-315 miles mostly city. But I can tell when my car REALLY needs gas-it will start shuddering and bucking under acceleration. That's when I know it needs gas if I'm trying to stretch the tank.

Umm...since when does a fuel pump suck from the top? This is a old wives tale. All fuel pumps suck from the bottom. This is why we have things called Fuel Filters---so that the injectors dont get fubarred by gunk.
Now running dry, thats bad for the fuel pump because it can overheat quickly without any fuel around it.

Btw, I get 345, all highway.

Plus if you ALWAYS run your tank all the way down, you'll slowly be sucking all that junk through the filters instead of letting it pile up in the bottom of your tank. I don't like getting gas all the time so I usually run it down to about 1/8 tank left.

340 before light comes up.

I drive 75% highway to go to work and usually drive around 85 mph on the highway. My mpg is somewhere between 28.5-29.5

I'm really happy with my car ^_^
