Looking to upgrade stock-crap tires for some sticky ones
I am definitely looking to get some new tires, but I am using up the tred on my stockies first. I was taking a serious look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season tires as their replacements. From the various comparion tests and customer reviews they seem like a solid tire.
Now in terms of size, when I go to get these tires I am going to change the rims at the same time. I want to keep them lightweight with some performance in mind, so no 18inch upgrade. What is good size to go with? I mean stock size is 17X7 with a +45 offest, so should I just stay with that size? Just want them to be lightweight and help in the handling department. As for rim choice that's a whole new thread topic, been looking for a year and still can't narrow it down.

If you want to keep the wheels simple... a 17x7 with a +40 and then maybe a 225/45/17 would push the wheels out a little bit and give you a little wider tire for a little more contact with the road. The larger you go, the heavier they are.
Since you are looking at all seasons, I cant say enough good about Avon Tech M550's. 100 a piece and one hell of a tire. I am now running Falken Ziex Ze912's and like them so far, but still not the same tire as the Avons. I will probably go back to the Avons on my next set.
i was looking at the Eagle F1 all seasons as well, however i was able to pick the F1 DS-G3 for a steal, so i got those instead.
yesterday it was dry over here, and i drove the car all over the place to break the tires in.. and today it rained lol, and OMG the car handles awesome.
i live here in cali, so all seasons are unncessary.
and if you really want MAX performance gain, do what i, and alot of others are doing...
go with a 17x8 with a +44-48 offset, and run 245/40 tires, .40% diff overstock.
handlin is amazing on a stock tC.
