I like them but not on a real contrasting paint job, only on dark colors

hey you know it is what you like, that was just my opinion, do it for you, who cares what anybody else said. If we all cared what anybody else was gonna say none of us would have bought a box on wheels.....you know what I mean

I dunno...I think it would be a wierd place unless they make carbon fiber doors

it looks like the car's in the middle of getting bodywork done and the painter needs to hurry his ___ up and get those fenders sprayed..

The very same carbon -fanatics wouldn't hesitate to make fun of some kid in a blue civic that he wrecked and got a red bumper and hood (waiting for $ to get them repainted), but carbongeek wouldn't hesitate to sport black carbon fenders and hood on an orange car... at least the $ poor civic kid would have an excuse beyond bad taste.

I guess I just don't understand the appeal of carbon fiber, but in my opinion, unless you are swapping out parts to make a substantial difference in weight, carbon fiber is not really attractive. I agree with others on here that it just makes you look like you shop at a junk yard, putting parts from other cars on your car. I know that people that own our cars don't do the cf thing for weight issues because I've read that the cf parts aren't much lighter (or they just stick on over existing parts). I like carbon fiber dash kits, I don't mind the door pillar dressing, but as far as hoods, hatches, fenders, rims, and anything else you can dream up to make with carbon fiber, it just seems silly.

I love the looks of cf, Would like the entire ride to look loke that.

11-18-2004, 05:35 PM
it looks nice but yeah it is a little much for my taste. :D

I'm the kind of person who would get CF only for weight savings and then paint over it because it's no longer new or interesting. CF was kind of cool back when it was rare and outrageously expensive, but now that you can get a CF dash kit for even a Buick you know it's about as cool as stick-on fake wood.

Another fad that has already jumped the shark: spinners.

I think it would look amazing if they were ghosted to match the body.

it looks nice but i don't think i would spend the money to do that to my xB. too many haters out there.

They're very nicely done. I like carbon fiber but they don't look good just there. Maybe if the entire front end and hood were also carbon fiber it might fit. Possibly if they were painted over allowing a splash here and there to show through.

I don't know i'm feeling the carbon fiber. Only if it was on a black car so the color contrast wasn't so dramatic. I actually wondn't mind buying a set. How much would they be selling for?

Hotbox: what was the point of that post?

They look very carbon fiber, I'll give you that much. I don't see anything objectionable, just a normal fender in CF.

hotbox05

that price is just outrageouse. i mean yeah it's alot of cf but damn. seems taht ven if very popular i think itd be hard to sell because of that price. . too much carbon on a weird part.

I'd have to agree w/ some of the others in saying that CF is a fad. It doesn't really serve a "functional" purpose with the boxes except for maybe having dent proof fenders. :?
IMO it's ok as trim, but only in moderation.

Just my $0.02

Right now you could do an xB with a CF hood, spoiler, hatch, lip kit, fenders, dash kit, pillar garnishes, emblem garnishes, front grill, and splitters. I wonder when/if a full bumper replacement will come out.

I've said it B4-

The 2.0 color is NOT going to be yellow.

It's goin' to be carbon fiber. Oh, they'll figure out a way. Just watch!

Granted those fenders ARE expensive, but compared to soe hoods, they are aon par price wise. Remember, you are getting TWO fenders for roughly $600+ dollars w/ shipping. A GOOD cf hood is at least $300.

If the paint job is done correctly no matter what color, these fenders will look nice.

You never know when you might see a set on somone's xB.

i really appreciate the comments. but always remember if you are a car person anything is nice for your car. imports have bodykits that don't do anything. and same with any other carbon fiber hood. they aren't helping much so don't shot down carbon fenders or anything else because i wouldn't be suprised to see carbon on your car. as far as carbon fiber it is a little more expensive but you don't have to take it to a body shop and get it painted and worked on so in the long run it is cheaper :D
