Hi everyone. I am new to the forums, and bought a new xD a month ago. So far things have been great aside from the fact I went out to see a crack that spans the length of my windshield. My dealership has ruled it a stress crack, and are waiting approval from their district manager to do something about it. I realize there was an issue with the older style xB's, and I can't seem to find any issues with the xD's, but has anyone else had a problem with a broke windshield on their xD?

Woah. I don't have a crack at all on my windshield. Where exactly is it on yours? I've heard of the stress cracks on the xB-1s and how some dealerships weren't admitting there was a problem. Hopefully it was a fluke on yours and not a count down for us other owners :(

I am thinking and really hoping it was a fluke. The crack spans the lower portion of my windshield; it's about 3 feet long, and pretty much runs in line with my wipers.
We had snow the night before, so there was weight on the glass. I started the car to let the defrost run a bit and then started to scrape the snow off. When I got in to go drive I noticed the crack. There was no pre-existing rock chip though to start the crack, it was caused solely by the weight on the windshield.
I lived in North Dakota for 6 years, and have seen a lot more snow sit on a vehicle for a lot longer (not too mention in much colder temps), and have always just turned on my defrost to get things started, but have never ever had a crack on a windshield. So to me this isn't normal behavior. Now I am back in southern IL, and we got 3 inches of wet snow, and it was barely below freezing.

Toyota is replacing the windshield for me, something the chevy dealer would have never even considered. Hopefully it was all just a fluke.
