Danget. So I'm trying to put in Doc I's short shifter... anyway, lots and lots of very annoying issues that were very time consuming.

Think the washer was bad? Nope. Getting the dang cables back into the cage was really hard, but finally managed to do it (removed the entire cage).

So then I tried moving the shifter to the side and it is not moving. What? I try manually pushing/pulling the cable on the left and it is NOT moving WHATSOEVER.

Same story with the cable on the right/middle cable!

What happened... I am freaked out now. Is there some magic setting on those useless lock twist things? What is the point of those? Did they lock the cable? How would I unlock the cables to get them moving again?

I really need to fix this soon - any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I don't mean to bump stuff like this... but the severity of the situation is that my car is UNUSABLE right now. Completely dead because the shifter cannot move whatsoever.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I can't seem to find ANY info about something even remotely like this anyone on the internet.

You may have the cables hooked up wrong....

Crises averted thanks to Doc Iso's help! Thanks again Doc!!

*Basically, the tranny was stuck between gears, which happened when I removed the cables initially.

To fix, you have to go to the tranny side, and move the selector linkage manually to get back into neutral, with the cables unhooked from the shifter. Then try again.

Bushing on the left side is connected to a large, blimp-shaped lever thingy. That is what moves (you will figure it out by trying to move the bushing side to side with your hand).

BTW, I do not know whose pic that is so sorry, but thanks for letting me use it =p

Oh man, the doc is a lifesaver!
