are there any midpipes out there with a large enough resonator to kill most the rasp from a header?

^^^^ what he said. I have a hi-flow cat and it alone killed the rasp. Not sure why lots of people wanna go cat-less on N/A setups. It just makes your exhaust that much louder, and illegal to boot.

the main reasons are...

1. More hp from less restricted flow

2. alot of people (including me) just have a guy they pay a couple extra bucks to pass them in smog checks

3. A big resonator will cancel that rasp and quiet it down some and will provide better flow than a high flow cat

well atleast i don't have to worry about #2 ... things are pretty lenient over here

so im guessing best bet is to buy a 2.25" midpipe and buy a long resonator and weld it in?

any picks on a good resonator and about how much does it run to get it welded in at a muffler shop?

if you are going NA then yes get 2.25 piping. I went to a muffler shop, got a 30 in magnaflow resonator ordered and installed for 150
