since i just got my inventory bonus i think i'm going to see how cheap i can get this for, just to be the guinea pig. i love "or best offer" products, espically ever since i got my exhaust that was listed for $506 for 400 out the door. if it ends up being junk, i've always got my current intake. i'll keep this thread posted.

Wow I was for sure planning on replying "dont buy an ebay intake, if you want to save money buy a used Injen or AEM in the classifieds" but after lookin at the ebay listing I actually think it looks legit. At first I was like oh a dyno, yeah right, but they've got videos so I dunno, someone should try it.

Good product or good marketing?
Dyno could be anything. And since I highly doubt any one pipe is going to be significantly better than another pipe, those dyno gains mean nothing to me. It's easy to manipulate variables to get more power on a subsequent dyno run. Also, the videos don't show the dyno readings. It's a crap shoot as to what the given dyno is actually saying.
Also, comparing this intake to any other intake means little because one can't compare two dyno readings of different products on different machines at different locations. Just because this one shows a certain gain doesn't mean it wouldn't see the same gain using another intake that advertises a smaller gain.
If you're in the market for a CAI, then by all means, carry on. Just follow your standard Ebay skeptic's procedures. The extras that they provide don't actually tell you anything and the descriptions tell just as little (although they do have a considerable talent for restating "this intake makes power" in NUMEROUSLY different ways.)
op07tc
03-10-2008, 06:38 AM
^^^^ agreed on the part about the gains. 11hp and 13tq? that's definately a stretch. HOWEVER, it appears to be a quality product at a very reasonable price and looks to be competitive with injen and aem based on design and such. I'm in the process of working out a price with the dealer and will be purchasing this intake probably tomorrow if he agrees to my offer. I will be sure to post pics and give a full review.

Ok yeah that just struck a nerve of mine. First off, it's Bangkok. I'm sure you know the spelling, or that your spelling is incorrect but just wanted use the play-on of "bang" and "cock" as some sort of symbol of the quality of products coming out of China or Taiwan but Bangkok is in Thailand. And by the way, you might want to try mainland China for crappy knock-offs.

I'm Thai as well, and Taiwan and Thailand are completely separate and independent (not to mention, thousands of miles apart).

No offense to China or Taiwan, but with THOSE countries, quality control is definitely lacking...

UPDATE:
The intake came in yesterday and let me tell you, this is top quality product. From a visual and physical perspective, this is just as good if not better than my buddy's injen intake. It's lighter than the injen by feel, and came with 4ply couplers and t-bolts for attachments. Only thing i didn't get were instructions, but i don't really care, since it's about a 10 minute installation. The piping is 3 inch, and the welds are extermely clean. I'm at work now, will post pics of it out of the box and installed later tonight.

sorry for the broken promises folks, hard to take pics with a broken camera that i just found out about :flame: ....
Anyways, i got the intake on yesterday. There's not a huge difference between it and the Weapon-r that i replaced, a little more whistle i suppose. It feels kinda like a tad more pull from 4k on, but hey, it's just an intake lol. The logo on that guy's ^^^^^ intake is one of the stickers that comes with the package. My pipe came with this cheap metal logo like the one on the site with adhesive backink. It's already starting to come off, so that's probably why that guy replaced his. Overall, this is a bang for the buck item that I highly recommend. There was one fitment issue, the lower bracket inside the fender well. I fabbed up a connector with another universal bracket i had lying around from the weapon-r intake and it was an easy fix. But other than that, all the materials and quality of workmanship are top shelf. Two thumbs up on this one.

dang i made this thread a looong time ago! I ended up selling mine when i got the turbo kit, but there's no question that it's a good intake for a better price. As listed previously in this thread, the one fitment issue was the only flaw. If i had to do it all over again, I would probably get an injen in support of the big name companies during these trying economic times. But if you're all about being cheap and functional, this intake is the one for you. Keep in mind though, no one intake is "better" than another, excluding the other ebay knock offs. It's just an aluminum pipe with a filer on it.

chicotunner07
03-01-2009, 11:27 PM
just screwed the gold nuts all the way down till it was very tight, i noticed the MAF has a rubber ring gasket, when i put the maf into the tenzo intake, it was very snug, i had to twist it from side to side to get it to slide down, then i simply tightened the screws, and thats all!
I also bought a Doc iso CAI panel, so the bracket that didnt fit wasnt even an issue!

Doc iso CAI panel? so does that actually fix the fitment issues that people have with tenzo?
chicotunner07
03-02-2009, 12:50 AM
not "fix" it, it stops the intake from hitting the metal on the fender hole, so it creates another point of support, so it makes the bracket uneccesary, also helps with rattles!
night87
03-02-2009, 02:47 AM
ah~~~ icicic. b/c i saw a post on this site about someone installing the intake and had some "fitment" issues with the pipe that goes down to the right side hole. If that wasn't a problem, i would so go for it. did you install urself? and how long did it take to get the downpipe in there
chicotunner07
03-02-2009, 04:12 AM
yes i did install it myself! its honestly not that hard, you kinda just gotta find the right angle and then push it in, its damm near impossible to put it in without scratching it though, all together installation took me about 1hr, if you really wanna get it in the easiest way possible, remove the fender, it will slide in without touching anything at all!

Well i got in the intake today and I had planned to put it on but cause mother nature is a real b**** I cant do it till snow melts and it warms up. Its gonna be 45 below wind chill and i don't wanna be outside in the snow either. Anyways the intake looks real nice and the instructions seem to explain everything(first intake I have ever seen with instructions) But its gonna be time consuming cause if you dont know you got to put the car on a jack, take off the driver side tire, take out the wheel well lining so its gonna be a while. I wont be putting it on till middle of next month or later. Weather has to turn around.

Well i finally installed it today inside a nice dry garage. The install took about 2 hours. I am a handy guy but this was kinda odd. Taking everything off was the easy part. It even asks to take off the front bumper which I never did. The install was ok except for getting the second intake tube into place. Its almost to big for the whole but it does fit after some pushing. After done the car didnt wanna start right away I had to try a couple time.(maybe something I did wrong reason why it wont start). The intake sounds AWESOME. Cant tell if it added 11 whp like the dyno says but it feels like it pulls a bit more and it sounds good. Sorry bout no pictures this was kinda a spur of the moment thing. Would recommend for people to buy if they want an CAI.

I just installed my HPS cai tonight - fitment good ya- scratched it up getting it through the fender to engine bay. Took forever to tighten the t-bolts though. once the ratchet ran outta room and just used pliers to keep twisting.
I couldn't find the o-ring where the maf sensor goes on though. Ugh, is that bad? It does sound nice. I got the gold one so I like the look.

The o-ring like the screw that keeps it in place? It should be fine since it takes a little more than normal effort to take that MAF sensor out, I would suggest finding one asap though

it's def. screwed in place. I thought when it said o-ring it meant like a rubber gasket type thing that goes in between the piping and the sensor. If that's not that the case, then I should be good I think.

Had mine for a good 6,000 miles. Nice growl to it. Did have a bit of trouble squeezing the lower portion of the CAI.
i have this intake but hate taking out the tire to clean the filter. anyone know where to buy an air bypass valve? i was thinking of cutting a hole at the bottom of the fender wall so i can remove to clean the filter easier and have the bypass to not let water into my engine... would that be a good thing to do?
that's the 3" model, believe they make a 2.5" model as well.

that is one of the dumber ideas i have heard, to risk getting water into the engine to spare like 15 mins work, when all reality you are creating more work because you are just letting more dirt and stuff to get on the filter.
