Default Dealership buffed my new Xb and toasted the clear coat.

My new Black Sand Pearl paint looks like crap. I want to thank the monkey who thought it was a grand idea to throw a buffing wheel on my clear coat. The dealership delivered my car to me with a scratch down to the metal on one door. They ofcourse want to fix it and make it right. They have guaranteed I will never know, but upon further review I have no idea how I am going to trust these morons as for some reason they took a buffing wheel to the clear coat ALL OVER MY CAR. It looks like ____ in certain lighting. Has anyone else had the dealer buff the paint before delivery?

I knew I should not have bought from this dealer, I posted my concerns a few months ago and now I am reaping the reward of convenience.

Monkey + buffing wheel and clear coat = crap.

that really blows man, sorry about that.

Did you bring it up to the dealer? Try emailing scion about your issue directly? Be persistent about getting it corrected and contact anybody and everybody. That should not be tolerated, especially when paying thousands of dollars for something NEW.

Keep trying to get it fixed!

LOL

Monkey + Buffing???

Sorry, that was funny. But seriously, I was ____ed off about something at my car dealership and a about a week after I bought my car, I was contacted by Scion to ask how was my buying experience. I told them everything about why I was ____ed, and the next day, the dealership called me and wanted to apologize and make up for the wrongs that they did.

Anyways, I'm "made whole" again so I'm happy. I'm sure if you contact Scion, they will make those monkey's pay!

i understand how they want to make the car look GOOD for you when you pick it up... but yea, i got mine COVERED in swirls. If i was buying the car for anything but a daily driver AND hadn't needed it (other car broke down) i would have never accepted it as it was presented to me. Would have demanded another one because there's just no way you can fix that, you can cover it, but that's about it. I mentioned it, i think they waxed it or something.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I went thru the same thing when we bought my wifes car on 2001. Totally ruins the new car experience. Contact Scion dealership and ask for the area managers info and Or contact the scion headquarters. Let them know how bad your experience was and Im sure (hope) they'll help you out

Ah yes the guys that use machines that don't have experience with how to use it. I've seen many a nice car ruined by a detail shop that burned the clearcoat and/or left mega swirls. I would've though at a dealer they would have someone good do it. Guess the keyword in that thought is "dealer", that's what I get for thinking lol.

Sorry to hear this. I can't imagine being excited about a new car and then they totally ruin the paint. Maybe you can call Scion and they'll help you out. From what I've read, Scion seems really good at customer service.

The "Manager" who broke the news to me about the scratch admits today they have two guys that buff one is great and one is not--WTF? Fire the one that is not and substitute a blind homeless person. JES" At any rate they said they will fix it and I will be happy.

id make them repaint the entire car, so there was no mistake in a slight color differ anywhere. When i went to the dealer about my bumpers being differ shades of color than the car, they ran me in circles for a long time before giving up.

What ever you do, DO NOT WAIT to tell the dealer about your concern. They may try to say that you buffed it and messed it up if you wait!

Call now if you already have not.

no reason they should be buffing the car. it is new paint. i would seriously tell them to find you a new Black Xb abd you will take that. why i say this is simple. the dealership is going to not spend good money on a good shop to do the work. they are going to use the cheapest shop they know. now you will have to worry about clear coat peeling over time. get them to make it right by giving you a new one

id imagine the weak factory paint wouldnt stand up to any rubbing much less a buffer in the hands of a moron.

Weak factory paint? I thought that factory paint was pretty good. Atleast that's what I've been told. I once got into a car accident and had to replace my bumper and the shop that replaced it did the crappiest paint job ever. The paint was chipping off left and right, and I've never seen that from original paint. Oh and it was chipping off about a month after I got it.

the 08 xB paint is nowhere near as good as the tC's is. i'm not sure what it is about it, but it's just not holding up nearly as well. scratches/chips FAR to easily.

i cant believe any of you would accept a new car like that. lol. even if i was "ballin". it's embarrassing. a 2008 with holograms. i would tell them to give me a new car if i were you. it's never going to look the same. to fix your swirl marks, they're going to have to grind down the clear a little more. so the thickness of your clear is going to be extremely weak. good luck

I had a 2003 Jetta GLS and the paint on that car was amazing. A rock chip exposed the metal, and I swear the paint and clear coat was at least 2 mm's think. The paint on my xB is dissapointing. Very important to keep a nice wax on it at ALL times.
