Default steelies before and after WheelWax

My steelies were looking faded and dull after 2 summers parked outside. I thought I would have to repaint and clearcoat them. I decided to try some WheelWax I had sitting around, and 3 coats later they look wet, and fresh from the factory.

I have done that, it doesn't last long enough to replace painting them with a clear coat which I think I may be doing soon. I got so sick of trying to bring the shine back that I put my wheel covers back on. Looks good though, for now

Look good. A nice coat or 2 of wheels clear would be more permanant tho.

Steelies look great!

Now do yourself a favor and get rid of the Eagle LS's, and get a set of Falken ZIEX ZE's...I put a set on my RS2 box, and it made a WORLD of difference, especially in the rain!

Granted, I don't have the box anymore, but I liked the tires so much I got them for my tC!

Edgeracing.com has great prices on them...

I'll see how long it lasts.
If it only needs a new coat of wax every 6 weeks I would be ok with that.
I probably will go ahead and paint and clear, but maybe for summer '09

Atomic_tC,
Yeah I have some ZE-512s on my Honda. I really don't mind these Goodyears though. Now that the tread depth is at 5/32 they are not so good in snow but just fine in the dry. After they get down to 4 or so, I'll stick on my set of Yokie AVS ES-100s

I was actually thinking of painting my steelies flat black so they won't show so much through the holes of my phone dial bB and new Yaris caps.

I just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S last fall, originally for winter use. They're so danged quiet and smooth riding (and WAY stickier than the stock Goodyears!), I think I'm just going to keep them on!

Pretty much anything is better than the stock Eagles. I bought a set of Yokohamas after my Eagles started wearing out at 32,000, and I didn't realize how crappy the OEM tires are until I'd bought the new ones.

Good tip for the steelies! What's Wheel Wax run you? You'll have to let us know how long it lasts

Why is everyone ******* the goodyears? I actually think they are decent tires. Great in the rain and snow and will run them till they need replacements.

BB2ner the reason I bought new wheels/tires because with the stock crap goodyears the first rain we got after I picked up the box new, the tires lost traction at 60 and I went into a ditch, talk about one ____ed off white boy, stuck to the bumpers 10 miles from work, in the rain, after less then 6 weeks on the job

with wax on them, they will fade faster and will get to were you can not clean them. they are not ment to have wax on them. when they heat up from the brakes and warm weather they will look like crap again. I just painted them and used trim rings for like a year cost around $50

WheelWax is meant for wheels. I have put them on alloys before and they don't seem to mind heat from braking. The steelies had glossy paint to start with, so I don't know how you can say they are not meant to have wax on them. I hardly think it will hurt anything
Most likely wont last too long, but no biggie...
