Default Hotchkis Strut Tower Discontinued

i saw this while surfing

"As many of you know, apparently the front strut tower bar has been temporarily discontinued due to design problems, so it's currently being redesigned.

Ken, can you elaborate on what those design problems may be and how it may affect those who bought the one with the design flaw, if at all?"

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this...

I saw reputable sources here (Scion parts people and/or salesmen) say that it was on backorder so it was removed from the Scion site for the time being. It would return when they were back in stock. Something similar happened with the TRD exhaust.

The front strut towers are connected to the firewall, so what exactly is the point of the Hotchkis piece anyway?

Uh, it looks neat? Some other cars benefit from them so this one must too? Honestly, I don't know. If I buy one it will be mostly for looks (which means I won't get the Hotchkis bar - sexy it ain't.)

some users say they were able to order their tCs with the TRD front sway bar installed.

others say it was discontinued because of design flaws.

everything that has to do with parts is sort of up in the air right now, mainly due to the fact that the car is brand new.

so sit back with me and play the waiting game

Hotchkis tC strut tower brace = bar that connects the strut towers in the engine bay (see the K&N Typhoon thread for pics) that does very little if anything.

TRD sway bar = suspension component that replaces the stock rear sway bar on the tC that gives the tC more neutral handling and reduces the amount of understeer

TRD front sway bar = no such thing at present (and they probably won't make one, unless they also make a heavier rear bar to go with it. Adding a heavier front bar with the stock or TRD rear bar will cause unwanted understeer.)

Hotchkis is producing a front and rear sway bar set that is much stiffer than stock and the TRD rear bar.

There is no problem or discontinuation of the Hotchkis strut tower brace. It's just sold out nationally.

Hotchkis Tuning Sport Sway bars improve your handling and reduce body roll. Turn in with confidence and late brake in the corners with our track tested lightweight hollow sway bars. Sway bar sets include front and rear bars, greasable bushings, and brackets. Front Bar - 15/16" (24mm) - 2 position adjustable Front Bar - 40% / 68%. Rear Bar - 1 1/16" (27mm) - 3 position adjustable Rear Bar - 273% / 304% / 338%.

to increase the tension between the sides of the firewall,

any open gap becomes tighter when the points are connected
