i just bought a set of tein basic coiloversfrom someone on sl. they were used for like 5000 miles and the rears seem a little bouncy i need to know if this is normal or do i need to repair the struts? i talked to a tech from tein and he said that the guy could have put softer springs in the rear, what do you guys think?

Put weight in the trunk/hatch. A rear sway might help.

i have a system in there its only a single 12 but its pretty heavy, a rear sway will help the bounciness?

How much did you buy them for?

Depending on that question i would do one of two things

1. Send them into Tein and see if they will fix or replace them

2. Sell them on ebay or something and get a set of B&G Coilovers ...I Love mine to death

i got them for 450 shipped. i was thinking of sending them in to be fixed cause i doubt the kid just put softer springs on them

wow, i got my B&Gs for about 1200...but if youre lookin to get B&G, theyre real comfortable and lowers quite nicely. :) to answer your question, since you have the tein basics, its not adjustable, so yea, either send it back to get it looked at, or resell it and save up for something new. ive ridden in a tC with tein SSP, and the spring rates from the basic and SSP are the same, and it was not bouncy at all. it was stiff but not bumpy actually.

in my opinion i dont like buying used stuff (even if its from a friend i know personally). reason being, even if the item is much cheaper than new, who knows how it was treated in previous ownership. especially if its something this important to your car, such as the complete suspension components, i wouldnt go cheap with it...it can mean a life and death situation you know? hahah not tryin to scare, but its kinda true :P

i'm runnin on TEIN basics and the back is definitely not bouncy. infact it's more stiff than the front so needa get that checked.
