Has anyone tried opening the TCY taillights?
You know, the ones with two red lights on top and the backup light on the bottom that are a Scion dealer option.
I want to drill the center light to add blue dots. But the outer cover sits about a quarter inch from the actual light lens. It would be very cool, though, if the blue dot and its little chrome ring could be UNDER the outer cover.
So can these taillights be disassembled without screwing something up?

I'm talking about old skool blue dots. They're glass, about 7/8" in diameter with a chrome ring that has a lip. They need to be mounted from the front.
(By the way, BoomBox, my brother used to live in Yorktown.)

Old Punk-
I have those &.......I have absolutely no idea.
I did want to say that I am definetely diggin' your Old School Theme. My other two cars are a tad over 40 years old and, of the past 9 vehicles, the newest car that I've ever owned was a 1970, till the xB. I'm way into old rods and customs, muscle cars too. I bought the xB for the reliability and the fact that they didn't look like anything else, much like my classic vehicles. I've been very pleased with it.
As far as the light housing goes, couldn't a plain jane factory light be sacrificed in the name of progress? The lens & housing are sealed using the same technique, right?
Unfortunately, my dealer had my TYC lights installed @ the local port, so I never had access to my old ones, or I'd try it myself or send one to you. Would the oven method work?
I think blue dots would be pretty damn Kool! Excellent idea!
