hey guys,

i already searched but couldn't find an answer.

i am planning to leave my little ipod nano in the car (probably in the center arm console or the glove compartment), because i am getting a navigation system and the ipod doesn't need to be touched since i can control the ipod and everything with the navigation.

my question is... during the summer, when temps can reach over 100 degrees F, what is the best way to keep the ipod cool in the car? i don't want to have to take it with me everytime i leave my car...

any suggestions...

thanks in advance.

Well... I have a Microsoft Zune for close to a year now and I always leave it in the car(center console). Have not had any problems with it.

BTW, Miami does get pretty hot in the summer. Well over 100 degrees inside any vehicle.

What you could do is buy yourself one of the windshield reflectors. That does drop the temp. inside a vehicle a little bit.

Move to Maine.

Seriously, I don't think youll have to worry about it. I mean, you keep your stereo in the car with no worries. Just make sure its mounted in an area that gets some air and isnt in direct sunlight. Too cold of tempetures will sometimes freeze an ipod, but getting too hot shouldnt effect it unless we're talking much much warmer then 110-115 degrees.

Here in Cali it's gets up to 110 degrees +. I left my iPod in the car once and I had to soft reset it.
If it gets that hot where you live, I would suggest to just take it with you. C'mon, it's a NANO, it can't be that big. :P

well ipod nano is a flash drive so it has no hard drive in it, i wouldnt worry about it getting to hot unless its in direct sunlight, if it was any plastic on it might melt. I have an ipod touch which is steel and glass and its perfect in the car :), but I wouldnt leave a ipod or zune with a harddrive 30gb models+ in the hot sun

The biggest issue with leaving your ipod in a hot car is that it shortens the battery life. Hot temperatures speed up the chemical reactions taking place in the battery pack causing the battery to wear out sooner than it should. If you can, I'd recommend taking it with you.

I left my iphone in my car on a moderate day in az (90) and when I went to grab it about 7 hours later it was like holding a hot cup of coffee. Can't imagine it being too good on the phone, and I was upset with myself subjecting it to harm after paying $400 for it.

Also everyone should be in the habbit of taking the more valuable stuff in their car with them when possible. Never know who might break in and steal not only your radio, but now your ipod or iphone too.

i keep my ipod and GPS in the car at my house ( i live in the woods no ones gonna break in) and its always fine. the Ipod takes a while to load in the winter. but when im anywhere else i just take it out.
