LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-23-2008, 09:43 PM OK IM new at this and this question may Have already been asked a million time but sorry my car started to make that noise from the brakes so im like wtf i've only had this car for a year now and its already needed to change the brakes so i buy brake pad as im changing them i started with the driver side and notice there is still alot of pad left on it so im like eh i'll just change them anyways and so i go to the right side and thats when i see that there really isnt much left on the right pad so im like wtf so i change them so i go and change them and pretty much its still making that damn noise i dont know what to do next so my question is why is it still making that annoying noise and 2nd why did the right side wear more then the left side is the alignment off?? i mean the car doesnt drive to the right when left alone/?? can anyone help me?? NOOB question sorry :loser:
frenchaj09 03-23-2008, 09:47 PM Dont worry about the "noobness", thats why this site it here, for you to ask these questions.
If you still have the warranty, take it to Scion and let them take car of it. Probably a bad caliper or air is stuck in the brake line, causing unequal braking. Though, I cant explain the sound unless the caliper itself is loose.
Wheel misalignment would cause a metal-again-metal sound, though that would require the wheel alignment be off HORRIBLY!
Hope this helps. If your car isnt under warranty, then go to a brake shop and let them diagnose the problem, and then bring what they say back to us..

LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-23-2008, 10:05 PM yeah its still under warranty i got the extended warranty it just hit its year this month :) but yeah i will take it to scion tomorrow
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-24-2008, 06:22 PM well i just called longo and umm i have to take it in for a brake inspection for 40 bucks ??? so i guess???
frenchaj09 03-25-2008, 12:08 AM Longo? wTf?
You should be able to take it to Scion and just get it fixed that way.... Dont take that ____
jurassic1 03-25-2008, 12:26 AM How about just telling them there's something wrong w/ the brakes sys....and it's still under warranty. No diagnosis needed, just claim something's wrong.
Oh, is your drivespeed normal? When you let off the gas pedal does your car stop and not roll on further? My guess is the right pad is stuck and is in constant contact w/ the rotor....
in any case, have it checked. $40 or no $40.
frenchaj09 03-25-2008, 02:05 AM hooah!
PlayinWithFire 03-25-2008, 02:06 AM Longo? wTf?

LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-25-2008, 05:36 PM Longo? wTf?

yeah just like PlayinWithFire said its a dealer you know Longo toyota lol but as for the breaks i am going to just say there is a problem just like you mentioned i mean its still making noise at slow speed when i come to a stop :(
jurassic1 03-25-2008, 05:49 PM but does it make noise even when the brake pedal is unpressed?
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-25-2008, 05:59 PM No thats why i thought its was just that the breaks wore out but then i thought wait that shouldnt be right so i checked them and there was alot of pad left and what not. what about the rotor getting crystallized?? sounds right if not correct me please
jurassic1 03-25-2008, 06:22 PM "crystallized" ? haven't heard that before. they warp--yes, but crystallize---i dunno...well, maybe you have a bad/misaligned rotor that needs re-machining; or something's wrong w/ the brake distribution (the left side might not be working while the right side is bearing all the braking load).
In any case, just bring it to Longo (that's where I got my baby, btw) and claim warranty. Don't pay for diagnosis, I don't believe you need to pay for it since this is a defective-part issue. good luck!
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-25-2008, 07:05 PM it wasnt the rotor my bad its the pad it self when i said crystallized and i sure will i will try to be as firm as possible and thanks i will need it !!!
frenchaj09 03-25-2008, 11:11 PM GL with the dealer. Like he said, be stern and forward. Dont take no for an answer.
I agree about the uneven braking causng the noise. Which side of the car is making the noise? Or where in/around/outside of the car is the noise coming from?
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-26-2008, 04:00 PM right side. a lot of the time i hear it only coming from the right side especially when the cars starts to slow down at low speeds
frenchaj09 03-26-2008, 05:24 PM ANd thats the side with the least amount of pad on it... Defective caliper or air in the brake line. No doubt.
If its seomthing else (which i hope not) then i hope they cover it...
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-27-2008, 08:07 PM yup so tomorrow im taking it in since this will be the only time to get it done
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-28-2008, 08:44 PM well you were right Defective caliper and i ended taking it to west covina toyota which i can honestly say gave me the best service given in any dealership they also replaced the brake pads and resurfaced and glazed the rotors and it none if it cost a penny lol thanks for the help!!! oh and they washed my car longo never wanted to do that for me lol i understood though but thanks guys for the strength LOL!!!
LoneWlf_Equivalence_CC 03-28-2008, 08:45 PM OH!!! one more thing MISSION COMPLETE!!! LoL
CSUnited14 03-28-2008, 10:55 PM congrats glad it worked out.
