Default supercharger diy installation questions

alright guys, it's installation time.

we've been reading through the installation guide and have a few questions for those who have done this too...

1. how did you guys remove the crank pulley? did you use the "tool" they want you to use or just leave it in gear and hit the brakes to stop it from rotating with the tools?

2. any special way to remove the serpentine belt without the "tool" they require?

3. how about prying off the oil pan? special tool needed again?

i'll post more as i come across more potential issues. thanks everyone!

1. There is lock-tite on the pulley bolt. You will have to heat it with something stronger than a blow torch and then use an impact on it. Shouldn't have to worry about it spinning when you use the impact.

2. You just use a wrench and a socket to loosen (leverage) the tensioner pulley so that you can remove the belt.

3. I heated the oil pan with a blow torch for a couple of minutes and it just came off all on its own.

Good luck on the install, I'm just finishing up my install. Just waiting on my ceramic bearings to come in and I'll be done.

P.S. don't forget the 3/8" fuel line removal tool, should be a couple bucks at autozone.

The install isn't that hard, but there are some parts that are tedious and take a long time. I spread my install over a few days so that i am not rushed.

Actually you may not even have to heat it. I gave it three pulses with the impact and it came right off. I guess there isn't any loctite on the stock bolt, but you do have to apply it to the new bolt. Couple drops does the trick.

yo hunter! how about posting some pics of your install? I think it'll be a tremendous help to the others here. I want to see if I can install it myself too. thanks in advance!

sorry man, we did the installation and i didnt take pictures of the actual procedure :[ i took a lot of shots of the mess we made and general progress...

it really isnt hard at all, to be honest.

though we freaked out because it wouldnt turn on, and we pinned it to the ECU i had ordered from another SL member that didnt match to my car. i guess the key it was looking for was not mine.

anyway, i just need to do the crank pulley bolt and tighten the drive pulley on the s/c, and thats it!

This is by far the best link I've found to help visualize a supercharger DIY installation:

I'm putting mine in the next few weeks- can't wait!

well it's done! only thing i can say is... WATCH THAT F'ING CPS SENSOR WIRE.

by the way, i have no idea where you use blue loctite but it specifies it in the parts inventory...

anyway it idled rough at first. very low idle. now its okay. has a rattle/chatter at idle, but runs silky when actually under load. power delivery is almost the same as stock up to like 4k. then you can really feel it boosting... im also using the bosch 110 right off the bat, so i dont know if that helped any.

other than that... its nice! it overheated at first, but there was air inside the radiator, so i bled that. bam, fixed.
