View Full Version : 18x7.5 question
rastaangelman 03-25-2008, 07:13 PM hey i'm new to the forums so hi!! I have 2 questions. I bought a set of rims on ebay that are 18x7.5 w/40mm i've been trying to find proper tire fitment without to much rubbing with the trd 1.5" lowering springs. should i go 215/35/18? or will I still rub with that?
thanks for the help!!

burstaneurysm 03-25-2008, 08:01 PM You should be just fine.
What's the offset?
moonray 03-25-2008, 08:33 PM A 215/35r18 is just right.
Sciond 03-25-2008, 09:54 PM A 215/35r18 is just right.
yep I run the same size wheel and offset I run 215 35 18's
burstaneurysm 03-25-2008, 11:00 PM With that drop, you could get away with the 40 series... it will give you a meatier sidewall.
rastaangelman 03-25-2008, 11:04 PM Nice thanks for the help
rastaangelman 03-25-2008, 11:44 PM should I go with a 215/40 then? I don t want any chance if rubbing though cuz I dont want to make this a huge project
also with 215s have you guys had to replace your rims from pot holes that much?
Sciond 03-26-2008, 01:31 AM 60,XXX on rims all original I would stay with the 35's
whitej47 03-26-2008, 03:38 AM does TRD lower 1.5"? I thought it was a less than 1" drop. in that case I would go with the 215/40s, due to noise, etc. Also what type of rims are the eBAY ones, are you concerned about bending with a skinny tire?
rastaangelman 03-26-2008, 04:02 AM i looked it up and the trd lowering springs drops the xb ~1" I was just concerned with puting 18's on my box and rubbing the fenders. the wider the tire the happier i'd be so do you think i'd be better with the 215/40 vs. the 215/35?
burstaneurysm 03-26-2008, 04:30 AM It all depends... how crappy are the roads near you?

INFINI 03-26-2008, 08:21 AM actually you will have ALLOT of room with the 215/35's I rub VERY little with this set up and I am dropped 2.5. With a 1.5 your gonna have allot of room. Allot.
rastaangelman 03-26-2008, 02:11 PM perfect. Everyone thanks for the help
burstaneurysm 03-26-2008, 02:30 PM I'd get 40s... I could've run 40s on my 2" drop without issue. You'll be just fine and you'll be protecting the wheels more.
INFINI 03-26-2008, 05:51 PM I'd get 40s... I could've run 40s on my 2" drop without issue. You'll be just fine and you'll be protecting the wheels more.
true :)
rastaangelman 03-26-2008, 08:35 PM just ordered the 215/35's o well. better safe than sorry i suppose, i will just continue driving like a _____ around every pot hole i see lol.
INFINI 03-26-2008, 08:48 PM do you mean 215/40's. Those will be the safer bet.
rastaangelman 03-28-2008, 02:39 PM safe as in I want to make sure they will fit, thanks for all the help and I'll post some pics when I get them on my box
INFINI 03-28-2008, 05:47 PM kk, well the 215/35's I have fit great :) It's just harsh to drive over potholes big time. Never stops scaring me every time, haha.
rastaangelman 04-02-2008, 08:23 PM got my tires and wheels should be in on friday. i'll post pics this weekend!! thanks for all the help.
whitej47 04-03-2008, 01:53 AM bump...i'll just ask here instead of creating a new one...
What shims/spacers can I use on an ADR 18 X 7.5 w/a +42mm offset? I will have a 215/35 R18 on the rim. I will prolly only use the shims on the back.
Also, do I have to have a hub centric kit when I put the wheels on?
Does anyone know about a good set of locking lug nuts that won't break the bank?
Thanks all
-Joe
whitej47 04-04-2008, 08:29 AM bump...
INFINI 04-04-2008, 08:37 AM not allot of tire with 215/35 R18's. I would not do too much with the shims if your planning on a -3 or more. Be careful.
rastaangelman 04-08-2008, 12:30 AM just got them on today and noticed that my brakes seemed fine before but now i know i need to replace. also will the feeling that i'm driving a off road truck go away? ( slight vibration and road noise)?
rastaangelman 04-08-2008, 12:31 AM oh anyone know where i can get a decent set of rotors/drums/pads for cheap?
