i am about to buy a tc..and i was wondering about the warranty..i had a few concerns:

-did any of you buy the extended warranty??
-also what exactly does the warranty cover??
-i will be moving to a different state by the end of this yr..is that going to make a huge difference on the service i receive from a dealer in the other state???
-my dealer said the price i see on the website of scion (MSRP) is exactly what i will have to pay..is that right??

[well as you can tell this is going to be my first car :D ]

Can't answer the first one because I don't own a Scion... yet... but I do sell them.

The extended waranties pretty much just extend the factory waranties. They still do not cover wear and tear items.

A Toyota extended warany can be used at any Toyota dealer in the country. As for service, some places are better than others.

Yes. Scion Pure Price means that you pay what is on the sticker plus tax, tags and dealer processing. If you are paying less than sticker please call Scion Corporate and tell them all about your experience.

The warranty actually depends on who's warranty your dealer sells. If they sell the genuine Toyota Platinum warranty, its pretty comprehensive. There is a short list of excluded items like belt, hoses, tires and stuff like that. If a component fails and it is not on the excluded list, its covered unless you have caused the failure yourself.

While many dealers sell the genuine factory warranty, some still use outside vendors for this. This includes every dealer in the Southeast region. The aftermarket warranties can be a bit more sketchy as those companies tend to have a habit of going out of business every 3 or 4 years. The Southeast dealers do use a good company (JM&A), but I still don't like them as much as Toyota. Getting stuff paid for if you move from the area is a hassle.

thank you for the replies.
also, do you have to pay the state sales tax on the options included or just the base tC? ( i know its a dumb question but just want to make sure)

thanks

Yes you have to pay for the options that you include in your contract, but in most states this works to your favor. In the county I am in you only pay 6.25% sales tax on the car + accessories when included in the contract. If you purchase them seperatly you pay 8.25%.
