bBox06 04-02-2008, 03:41 PM i walk in this morning to toyota to pick up some parts and the parts dude tells me the 1st gen xb's price is going up.. after the new one has come out no one wants to sell their 1st gen xb.. anyone have some more info on this?
aalbertson3 04-02-2008, 03:47 PM Not sure about prices going up but the first gen xB is number 2 on the resale value list.
snowromance 04-02-2008, 09:06 PM what resale value list?
jdmtoybb 04-02-2008, 09:22 PM Maybe N.A.D.A.? IDK hope it's true though. It should be, that was the first and probably last JDM city car available in the stsates>We'll see how bad Nissan messes up(americanizes) the Cube...
bBox06 04-02-2008, 09:30 PM i dont know about the cude... too mmuch in love with the xb so i think i might look down on it... LOL
VIP_CAMO 04-02-2008, 09:36 PM very nice ...i was offered 12,000 for my box last time i went to toyota to get a oil filter
snowromance 04-03-2008, 03:58 AM i still would like the link you are talking about that says the gen 1 is the #2 car in resale value.
tanakasan 04-03-2008, 04:01 AM Gen 1..only WTG!!

TheScionicMan 04-03-2008, 05:53 PM My xB is worth more than my wife's Grand Caravan and we paid 10K more for it and it has a third of the miles of my Box.
midtowndesi 04-03-2008, 05:59 PM ^ one of the many benefits of owning a much sought-after import.
the xb is my first import car ever and since i've been driving it for the past couple of years, i dont see myself ever buying another domestic ever again.
NorCal76 04-03-2008, 07:20 PM I have always driven 4x4s in the past and this is my first import. I bought it for the fuel economy, passenger space and becasue I always liked the way 1st Gen xBs looked. I love my xB and do not ever see me getting rid of it. I plan on giving it to my daughter in 15 years... maybe... if she is lucky. There is nothing unique about the 2nd Gen xB and that is why ours is so sought after in my opinion. Hail Gen 1s!!!
TheScionicMan 04-03-2008, 07:33 PM The value was high before the Gen 2s. i don't think this is a reason to bash them. They still stand apart from the crowd, IMO. If they kept it too square, it would've been compared to the Caravan, the Nitro and all the other square stuff that has come out since the Gen 1 was a hit. As for the cube, they've been claiming they are bringing it over for years now. I'll believe it when I see them on dealer lots...
Dwatts5250 04-03-2008, 07:36 PM Im still debating on keeping my Gen 1, Im starting to like the Gen2....but then I look at all the mods on my Gen1....and the 68000 miles.....and the Gen2 bigger engine starts pulling me towards it.....I dont know!!!
midtowndesi 04-03-2008, 08:24 PM ^ it also pulls you towards gas stations and filling up more often at the same time
;]
TheDivineComedy 04-03-2008, 08:25 PM I'm to use to my gen1. Test drove a gen2 and didnt like it at all. I though it had TOO much power. If i ever have to get rid of it, I would prolly get a MINI Clubman.
Dwatts5250 04-03-2008, 10:42 PM ^ it also pulls you towards gas stations and filling up more often at the same time

And doesnt have ALL them loud a$$ Hella horns in the grille either.

Just getting broke in now! It will go twice that amount...and still sell for a pretty penny!
snowromance 04-04-2008, 03:16 AM awesome! its weird how whenever the xb comes up in casual talk i hear amongst a group of random people everyone hates it. i think there are people out there that secretly love the box and dont want to share how they truly feel in public :-)
Sciond 04-04-2008, 03:18 AM keeping mine until the wheels fall of 84,XXX so far

Almost universally the people who have dissed my xb are ones who have never ridden in or driven one. Everyone who has at least sat in it, or taken it for a drive has raved about it. I've had more than one person be baffled that Scion stopped selling them.
bBlover 04-04-2008, 04:07 PM its funny how people at school when I first got my xB they were like eww why'd you get that boxy car? and now that the 2nd gen is out, everyone's like i like yours sooo much better, the new one is ugly! so i think i've got some secret box lovers as friends! :P and plenty of people are like i want one, but too bad they dont sell them anymore... and i have no problem at all that the resale value goes up because it's never getting sold to anyone! Grandpa D, if you get rid of your gen 1, i'd hate you forever!!
150dBxB 04-04-2008, 08:53 PM everyone i know hates it until they ride in it and then they love it
im keeping mine till the wheels fall off then im gonna replace em!
bB2NER 04-04-2008, 09:27 PM The fact that the xB resale values are staying high means they should have kept it in production for another 3 years or more. Plus the fact that xB2 sales are down. No one wants them.
ZOMGXB 04-04-2008, 10:23 PM Are we at the point yet where used Gen 1's are selling for more than new Gen 2's?
When that happens, I think we should have a party, and then send the picture to Scion, with the note "BETTER LUCK GEN 3!"
Bitter? What makes you think I'm BITTER? :)

No one wants them. :rofl:Should have imported the Open Deck. Instant sales spike. No retooling, ultra JDM cache and a proven track record. Just like the Gen 1 box.

There were too many USDOT safety issues that stopped Scion from bringing the OpenDeck here. That is what i was told by Scion Corp years ago. Course, that didnt stop us from telling Jack Hollis at a sit down here in NYC a couple weeks ago to fix them, bring the OpenDeck here and sit back and enjoy fantastic sales once again.
BTW... i did tell him that the current xB is nothing more then a Chrysler Caravan with the 2 sliding doors replaced with hindges.
TheDivineComedy 04-05-2008, 01:27 PM ^very true
bB2NER 04-05-2008, 02:05 PM Hopefully they will do a model change sooner than 3 years?? Please?:rofl:

JDM_Dan 04-05-2008, 06:22 PM I've been looking for an 06 xB for few days now and here's what I have:
Decent condition xB with 15-20k miles cost around $12,500-$13,500. modified or not, the value is near the same. You can call a dealer and expect to negotiate no more than $500 from the listed price! I'm used to getting at least $2,000 discount through a nego., never seen a dealer turn down a buyer because of a $1000 less than retail. It's the buyer's market they say...and it's true. Almost half of which I've called were already sold.
The value of the 1st gen. xB is ridiculously good. And I thought the value of my honda s2000 was good...

you are exactly right. it seriously just looks like a minivan with regular doors instead of sliding. why do you think the 1st gen sold out and every scion lot now has at least 10 of those things on it.

Funny thing is, that came to me as i was talking with him and his focus team there in NYC.
I dont think we will have to wait for 3 years for a replacement. Scion is really trying hard to get the Fuse assembly line ready, and its supposed to be real close to the concept, supposed to be.
bB2NER 04-06-2008, 01:40 AM How is the xB2 selling in other parts of the world? I'm thinking it won't go to waste if they can sell it elsewhere.
CBSIMONSEZ 04-06-2008, 02:28 AM Its kinda big and bulky for sales in countries where Yaris and IQ are king.
7red7 04-06-2008, 08:34 AM I can't help but notice that the sale prices of the Gen 1 xB at dealerships is still very high. I've seen completely stock boxes going for over $16,000, and these are '04 and '05's with high mileage!!!

Stealerships may be listing them for 16K, but im more inclinded to think they are going down around 13 or 14K.
coryjames 04-06-2008, 01:12 PM that facts stated are false lol the 2008 xb is the one with the number 2 resale not the old gen the old gen still held its value very well and i hated the 08 at first now i cant believe i ever drove the 05 wasnt my style
bB2NER 04-06-2008, 01:38 PM i cant believe i ever drove the 05 wasnt my styleYeah, keep telling yourself that. You may believe it some day.

You are incorrect good sir.......... The stats are for the FIRST GEN xB. This info was all posted months before the gen2 hit the lots. The dealers can't even sell new gen2 xB's very well so I doubt the resale is that great for them. Plus the gen2 is not in demand like the real xB was. Dealerships are busting at the seems with them.........
