Default I hate my single DIN h/u. Need 2DIN advice

I had a sony 1 DIN head unit installed in my box a while back, and now I'm ready for a change. It was a custom install(no kit) right in the middle of the opening with black plexiglass all around.

Well a few people have told me how small & ____ty it looks, compared to the stock 2DIN and the more I look at it, the more I agree...

I was originally going to get a 7 inch monitor to fill the space and put a DVD h/u in the storage area but didn't feel like forking over the nearly $1000 to do it. So I settled for this... Now I hate it, and want to AT LEAST upgrade to a 2DIN h/u.

Does anyone have pics of a clean 2DIN head unit intsall? Or any experiences they can share? Did you use a kit? Is there a 2DIN kit for this car? And do the gaps on the side look nasty? Any help would be appreciated!

well, you could look into getting a single din adaptor. I've got one, it's got a little storage place and it doesn't look bad.

I really don't dig the empty hole you get with a 1DIN kit, that's why I got the custom install... I wanted a clean factory look. But the single DIN radio just looks tiny in that huge opening! I'm sure the kit would help, but that blank space just looks horrible to me, like I'm missing something...

fill it in with a clock, thermometer and voltometer ;-)

That's what I'm thinking of doing. since the things are only $10, I can afford to ruin one trying, I guess

Now, I'm not very happy with my sony HU, but that's a nother story.

I was going to keep this under wraps until I actually had it done, but here's my plan for this problem. When I get my stereo put in I'm going to put that space under the head unit to good use.

You know how in japan the bB center console has the light up bB logo? I'm going to make a light up scion logo.

Basically I'm going to take a piece of clear plastic, cut it out to fit that hole, then slap a scion logo vinyl on it and paint it black. Peel off the letters, spray some etched glass spray on the back, wire in a couple LEDs and I'm golden.
