Default Is it just me or...

… Does anyone else with a Super White have trouble matching the color EXACTLY when you order a "color coded" aftermarket piece? I've ordered many things for my car saying they are the "040" Super White color, but they always seem to have a bluish tint to them. Even the keyhole covers I ordered from IKONA didn't match 100%. Of course no one I know can see the difference, but it drives me crazy.

So, now that I'm absolutely dying for the OEM Lip Kit, I was wondering if anyone knows how well matched this site: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5510 is with their Super White. I'm mainly going with that site because as you can see, the lip kit is only $712, ALOT cheaper than the dealerships or any other websites. I'm just worried that the quality or color won't be exact. I went out to my dealership a few weeks ago to get a quote on the kit installed, not only did they already want $1k for the kit, they wanted $600 just to install it. I'm 8 months Prego and I can probably climb under the car and install it just as well as they can... how hard can it be?

So.. If anyone has any suggestions on the best place (well priced) EXACT match for the Lip Kit, other than the insanely priced dealerships, PLEASE let me know. THANKS!

It's almost impossible to get a perfect color match. It has a lot to do with different materials. If you mix up a batch of Super White and spray it on metal parts and plastic parts, you will see a difference even though the paint started out the same. If you want a perfect color match then you have to compensate for the difference in material and adjust the hue accordingly.

When I was having the plastic ground effects kit painted on my Polar White Echo, the bodyshop had to improvise on the color. They started out by matching the color code, and then they added tiny amounts of other colors and kept re-testing the paint until they had a perfect match. They would spray it on a concealed area to test if it matched against the body of the car. So my point is that what a vendor cannot actually see and touch your car, the paint code alone is not enough to get a perfect match.

You think matching the Supa White is hard? The Flint Mica is even harder, the paint guy that worked on mine tried more than seven different samples before getting it to match right. The mica in the paint takes a lot of different shades depending on the lot and how the sun hits it. Go with a really good professional to get your paint job right.

they don't ship out oem gfx or any oversized items. If u live close to them so u can pick up, it's a super deal, but if u don't live close. U r out of luck. I know cuz I asked them several times to ship it out but answers were no. no exception.

lol Thanks for the suggestions guys. Don't worry, I promise to wait until she pop's out before I go climbing under any car's again. Plus, with as expensive as Dr. bills have been lately, I may have to put the tC under a small hiatus until after my maternity leave. But the lip kit will definitly be the first thing I'll purchase.

I think you should just push forward on your plans and play it as it comes. Like i said i havent had to many problems, but then again all the big parts havent arrived yet.....

Just go with Carbon Fiber, then you don't have to worry about painting it.

As of right now my car has kinda gone towards the 'Panda' route. lol With my tinted exterior lights it really has the whole black and white theme going.

I'm guessing it's like a rubber or bumper type part, but the part that goes up against the car with the lip kit, is that black or gray? Some pictures I see make it look black, and others look gray. Just wondering.
