Default Need new tires, and your help.

Hey guys, I am finally ready to rid myself of stock rims.

I am planning to get some 18x8's with a +35 offset. I am a real dummy when it comes to tire sizes, and I was wondering if you guys could tell me what would fit well and look nice.
Thanks!

has some good info, but no info on your exact spring/wheel combo. Perhaps someone with Tien H-Tech and 18x8.0x35 rims could chime in.

So whats the difference between that tire and tires that are different. Could you explain the pros and cons?

Size. I believe that multiple sizes fit the same rim. I want to know what the benefits are to running a smaller tire vs. a larger tire. And what size "smaller" and "larger" tire would be appropriate.

18x8.0 for a Scion TC, I would recommend going with a 225/35/18 tires. Something like Nitto 555 or Falken 452 are proper choices. They are affordable, have 300 tread ratings, and have good wet and dry performance characteristics. Any size bigger is pointless, because they would be too big. 225/35 is sporty and wide enough. Any wider it wouldn't fit ur wheel, and would also require fender modification.

225/40 would work, but 225/35 looks better, and performance is unaffected.

stick with 225/40/18. it will keep the overall diameter the same as stock and should fit just fine. anything smaller and your speedo/odo will be off. anything larger and you might rub.

So.......I am getting from you guys that 225/35 or 225/40 would be the best for me. I am undecided as to which one I should pick. I am leaning towards the 35's if you guys tell me that they look better and that it does not compromise performance.

I was just checking discount tires, and I don't understand why 40's cost less than 35's. Could someone explain?

i work at discount. i reccomend the 40's. what kind drop do you have? the 35's are very low pro tires, if you dont have lowing srpings it will look stupid. and the 40's will give you a better ride where as the 35's will bend the rims if you hit any kind of pothole.....

besides the fact... I'm running 18x9 +27. with 255/35/18 kdw's. something you've never seen.

In my nicest voice possible, please make your own thread to discuss this.

By the way I am running H-techs. Will 35 still be unfavorable?

this is my car when i had 225/40/18's on stech. NO rubbing

and this is john's car on h-techs same wheels but 225/35/18

its the best pic i got but there's about 2 or in of gap. i dont think it looks horrible, but it will look like your car still need to be lowerd imo. discount tire can test fit both. ask them to do both and see what you like

Thanks for the help! So you are saying that with 40's and H-techs, it may look better because the gap will be filled, where as 35's will have a larger gap, not as desirable?

Okay guys, thanks for all the input, its going to be either 35's, or 40's. Does anyone know which are cheaper?

40's are cheaper, but tshould only be 4-5dollars difference. the 40's will also help protecvt the rims better from potholes becaust theere is more cusion. but do what you like best. its your car good luck post some pics !!!!!
