View Full Version : coil pack...
aggj24 04-08-2008, 02:48 PM any body know where i can get a coil pack plug without having to buy a whole new wiring harness...not the coil pack but the female plug that connects to the coil pack?
the clip on it broke an i think it gets loose with vibration
Sasnuke 04-08-2008, 04:52 PM Did you check with your local dealer? They may be able to order just the plastic connector.
aggj24 04-08-2008, 05:00 PM they just said that i would have to order a new harness...ill call another toyota and see if they say the same thing
vettereddie 04-08-2008, 05:01 PM How would you replace it? The connector pins aren't removeable so you'd have to cut the wiring and re-splice. If you're worried about vibration and want a permanent fix, you could epoxy the connector on. Only downside is it would probably get damaged if you ever needed to replace the coil pack.
I doubt the dealer would carry the connector only, maybe you could hunt around at the junkyards to find one. Does the Echo use the same connector?
Sasnuke 04-08-2008, 05:11 PM The wires are removable from the connector, thats why its possible it may be sold seperately. But actually a junk yard is a good suggestion. Echo, Yaris, xA, xB, & Prius all use the same coil packs, hence the plug will be the same.
vettereddie 04-08-2008, 06:06 PM Oh, didn't realize they were. I'll have to check them more carefully I guess. Do you have a P/N for the plug?
aggj24 04-08-2008, 06:58 PM well i found out a price for a new wiring harness...an oustanding $905.90..to bad im not buying it... i dont even know where a junk yard is in my area...lol but that is my plan...to cut the connector off the old one and solder/ heat wrap it back together..or maybe i should just take the whole wiring harness. does anybody know if there any after market coil packs and wires that would be niceto have
new aftermarket coil packs cost around 700 dollars for a set of 4 i forget who sells 'em they posted it on sl a few months ago
LuNcHbOx13 04-09-2008, 04:20 AM hey aggj24 pm sent, good luck
vettereddie 04-09-2008, 01:21 PM Wow, I bought a whole motor and transmission for $500. It came with coil packs, starter, alternator, even all the sensors still installed. Didn't get the wiring harness though or I would have offered that up. Do you need new ones?
aggj24 04-09-2008, 03:41 PM i would sure like a new wiring harness
aggj24 04-09-2008, 03:43 PM hey aggj24 pm sent, good luck
i dont see a pm
lastlookcustoms 04-09-2008, 05:51 PM The toyota part number for the connector you need is:
90980-11885 msrp - $6.03
That doesnt come with the terminals, if you need those, the part number is:
82998-12340 - MSRP - $5.46 Each
and those come with 160mm of wire attached to them so you can splice back into your harness. That is also each.
aggj24 04-10-2008, 03:10 PM your saying toyota sells em like that..them bastards said i cant...thanks for the info
lastlookcustoms 04-10-2008, 03:13 PM Of course toyota sells them. The problem is that most parts guys now are so damn lazy they dont want to take the five minutes to help out a customer and get the wiring book from service, look up the connector and handle it. Luckily, I have my own books...
aggj24 04-10-2008, 05:19 PM maybe i needa get my hand on one of those books...anyways so i ordered that part should be getting it tomorrow or by monday..i hope this fixes my car..my CEL keeps trippin and i already have a new short block new intake valves and exhaust valves for cylinder one a brand new vvti and new coil packs new spark plugs piston and rod all because of water through the inake..ive been having a cylinder 1 misfire before i got the car back from the dealership..and after i got it back it was gone for bout a week then the CEL turned on again..i checked it and its still a cylinder 1 misfire( code P0301) does anybody know whats going on besides my wiring harness plugs clip is broken?
vettereddie 04-10-2008, 08:30 PM PM sent, was wondering why the short block was replaced.
