Default Problem with having wheels changed on xA

Has anyone else had any issues with shops not being able to lift their lowered xA's(sprint springs, dropped 2 inches)? I was at my local tire shop this weekend to get my steelys put on for the winter, and the idiots at the shop had the hardest time lifting my car. First, they tried the regular bed lift, that didn't work because it was bending the stock sideskirts, Next they tried the lift that has four arms that you are supposed to place on the jack points, That didn't work because they couldn't get the arms to clear the sideskirts, So they finally decided to use a floor jack but they first tried lifting it from the center of the rear axle! I went out and yelled at them to use the jack points which I thought was common practice. Long story short, They finally got the tire change done after two hours.

there is a rear tow hook which i've used all the time now that my springs have settled (about a 2" drop) and its been fine... i take it up on a lift which use the jack points on the side of the vehicle and have had no problems... i always leave instructions to the shop... unless one of the mechanics right out asks me if the car is lowered and that if there was a preferable jacking point i used.

i had hell trying to change my oil for the first time. with eibach springs, my fron't bumper isn't high enough to clear my jack. i ended up buying a ramp, which i returned because it's useless as i can't even use it to rotate my tires. i'll probabaly end up buying an expensive low-profile jack that i don't have the money for now. sigh.

The lifts at my work just barely fit under my car once they are adjusted as low as they go. But other than that I've never had to jack the car up or anything to get the lifts to fit.

Toyota is dumb as hell and always makes the jack points like 2'' higher than the sideskirts, Honda has the jack points come to the same height as the sideskirts.

At work we have to lift RAV4s and Highlanders with pos side steps on them and it is a pain in the ___ to make a lift hold it right.

For my Z that's lowered, and my friends with lowered, dropped, track driving sports cars, we alwasys take a 2x small blocks of wood along. Drive up over the wood, and most jacks will fit under the car.

Because we've gone through jacks like crazy, some of my buddies decided to spend a little (no, a lot) more money and get some very low profile racing-style jacks. They were ok, but they spend I think around $500 on them. If you just keep it in the garage, then they're fine, but when you want to take them to the track like we would, to change tires/pads, they're a bit too big.

Some of my friends have some special ramps for lowered cars, that they use. Some of the cars with even only ~1" clearance still can drive over these ramps. When I find out where they got them from, I'll post the link.

1" clearance? dont most tracks have a 3" rule? that was my understanding. at least i know that's the rule for gt and the like so i thot it was somewhat of a general regulation

Jesus. Did I say 1"? Ha.. That's like 3 fingers width. It's probably more like 3" or so I think.

This is an example of one of the lowest cars.

Here's another pic of another car showing the ramps we always use.

You can't be serious. u went to a shop to have people put on your steelies? How about taking out your owner's manual and learn how to do it yourself. Save you the trouble & time.

Are you a female?

what does that have to do with it? I know plenty of girls that know more about automotive stuff than I do. Some people don't want to bother with the issue, If the car is lowered that means you may need stuff you wouldn't normally use to change a tire(tho personally if you can't change your tire you are screwing yourself)
And on a side note, I dont think I've ever met a girl named Jeremy

I'm not female, I don't have a garage, I live in Colorado and on that particular weekend it had already snowed two to three inches and was still snowing! If you would like to take out the P.O.S. stock jack and change out each tire in the snow when it's 10 degrees outside , please come to my house and do it. I know how to change a tire, ___!

Pick a shop that doesn't have 16 year old idiots rotating tires and you should be good.

Calm down dude. It was just a little sarcasm on my side. granted that my car is 4" inches from the ground. I'm not able to use a hydrolic jack because clearance issues but ANY and i'll say it again ANY stock jack in the trunk compartment will DO! So, no "specials tools" are needed to change a tire, Jeremy. Again, I would just rotates my tire when they're needed and all other little things. Why trust others when you can put all your sweet time into it while preventing people from damaging your car. :D Hey, take it how you take it but I was just trying to help and wasn't trying to be an ___ at all, axion. Plus your taking this online thing way too serious... Live a little

for some people its just easier to pay someone else to do it. i pay for my oil changes and i paid to have my stock wheels put back on too. its just a hassle that i dont care to deal with. i work a lot so i just rather drop it off and get other stuff done while its being taken care of

Again, I would have changed my tires myself, BUT there was about four inches of snow on the ground the weekend of November 20th, I do not have a garage, so I was not about to change my tires in the snow. The speed run(see 120 MPH post) was done the following week when the snow was GONE! It's simple english, please try to understand, I'm very tired of trying to explain this. All I wanted to know was if anyone else was having troubles with tire joints having issues with their lifts and lowered xA's, that's it.
