Default eclipse & ipods

hi all,

i'm looking into buying an i pod but have a dillema. i have the stock head unit right now, but will be switching it out to install an eclipse head unit which unless it'sa hooked up to the "commander" (seperate part) it will not play mp3's :? . my question is if it can just be connected to the aux imput and have it work that way? any help would be greatly apreciated. thanx.

Yes. But if you do it that way, you have to use the controls on the ipod... think of it like hooking up a portable CD player up to a car using a cassette adaptor.

Anyhow, if you use Alpine, they have an ipod interface module, so you can control the ipod from the headunit itself.... but I'm not promoting alpine or anything. ;) I have an Eclipse headunit myself.

No, the AUX input is an RCA input (red/white pair of cables) like the ones on your TV or DVD player. Using your auxilliary input would be a LOT better sounding than using any of the FM modulators that they sell for the ipod.

Monster is coming out with a product (iCruise) that allows most HUs to control the ipod like it was a CD changer (even displays text on most of them) Also Denison has the ICe which does the same thing. This would be able to hook up to the Eclipse. Both are around 200 bucks (even charges the ipod)
