I might be buying an exhaust sometime in the next couple weeks. my problem is how am I gonna get under the tC? I don't have jacks and I don't want to invest in them at the moment. A buddy of mine has some ramps that I wanna back on top of which would lift the back up high. My problem is that my cars dropped on Hotchkis so I'm worried that my front bumper won't clear the pavement. I mean worst comes to worse I'll just take the front bumper off but what other options do I have?
what about the jack in your trunk? the scissor jack can get it in the air and you could, not should, but COULD use that. Just jack it up at the rear tow hook and like put your stock wheels or something underneath to catch it when it inevitably falls down.

^^ I could do that. I use it when I change my wheels but I don't trust it enough to actually get under the car. Honestly, I wouldn't even trust jack stands enough to get under the car. When I'm workin under the car i'd rather have it on something solid.
why don't you trust stands? set it on the stand, shake the car around to make sure it's on the stands, and get going with everything. i've gone under my car with stands millions of times. one time i almost fell asleep under my car because the rolling bed i have is so comfy.

Yea that's what I'm planning on doing. But if I put the ramps on the back wheels, it'll bring the nose down. And I have a hard time getting into my driveway and steep parking lots with-out scraping as is so I'm just worried that I might tear something while backing onto them.
Idk man. I just don't trust them. I'm sure i'd be fine with them but i'd rather have the wheels on ramps.

I'm the total opposite. I wouldnt trust ramps with anything. Seen cars roll off of them too many times.
Stands are the best if you put them in the right spots.
And there are designated places to put your scissor jack. NEVER put it under your tow hook.
PS: i put my hotchkis sway bars on while my car was on jack stands. That means dropping the sub-frame. An exhaust should be no problem.
PPS: never work on a car yourself. It gets lonely...

I would trust a jack stand 100%.........ramps.........not so much..........ramps are pretty cheap...........
Solution........buy a set of stands at Sears for $14.99..........cheap way to stay alive.......never get under a car unless you use them.

just buy a low profile hydralic jack.. if these are only a few of your mods, and you plan on doing some more, i highly recommend having it around.. especially if you ever plan on doing, wheels or brakes..

pepboy, autozone and the like all "rent" them. you basically pay for the tool you are renting and when you return it the give you your $$$ back.
in regards to jacks vs ramps. i feel equally safe under a good set of either. however I will not even think about getting under a car standard jack. thats just not smart.

I might just try the driveway thing. I definitely can't get under the car with-out lifting it. When I was putting my underbody lights back on, i couldn't even fit my head under the car
I was also thinkin about driving one side of the car on the curb while keeping the other side on the street. Might be able to get enough clearance that way.
when you jack the car up, do it from the side, obviously, that way you shouldn't have problems with scraping. and go with jackstands or ramps. its typically safe either way if you aren't a complete idiot (like myself, who managed to roll his xB off the standard jack, on a hill). I would do jackstands preferably just because the cheap ramps i've seen look like plastic and eff that!
