View Full Version : Exhaust Install *Pics Added*
flint_08 04-10-2008, 04:08 AM So I am getting a TRD exhaust on Sunday and was thinking about the install. I have the tools, but no ramps or jack stands. I rent an apartment so I have to park in the street so it is not likely safe for me to do it there.
Anyone have any idea what it would cost to get it installed at the dealership or a dealer? I dont really want to pay for it but I dont know anyone on Long Island (moved here for work).
Thanks.

i-onix 04-10-2008, 04:25 AM Not sure if it helps since I have the tools just no ramps or jacks.. I took it to miami mufflers here in miami and they installed it for 40 bucks. Quick and easy axle back. They were done in 10 min.
Be safe and take it somewhere.
BZinn1 04-10-2008, 04:36 AM I was able to remove mine prior to a show and reinstall with the car on the ground........socket with extension remove bolts to pipe and then remove exhaust from hangers.......polish and return to hangers.............less than 30 minutes to remove ........most of that was finding the socket......
BuddhasTC 04-10-2008, 04:48 AM yeah your best bet is to find your local muffler shops and get some prices...don't take it to the dealer
Luc1f3r 04-10-2008, 06:24 AM my cat back was $70 for install.
flint_08 04-10-2008, 11:16 AM Awesome guys thanks, I found somewhere that is going to do it for $40.
indyTC 04-10-2008, 12:38 PM just be careful and make sure they do it right..you get what u pay for... I got my hks installed for a ton but since it was installed right, no burning :D

flint_08 04-10-2008, 03:11 PM Yeah it is a friend of a friend and I will be there while he is installing it at the shop so no worries.
Supercharger is next then suspension.
BuddhasTC 04-13-2008, 10:03 PM i had my HKS installed for 20 bucks...no burning. I had my N2 installed for 60 bucks (catback and there was some welding involved) and no burning also. Just depends on the place and how people stand behind their work
Xaved 04-14-2008, 11:40 PM the TRD exhaust install is rather straightforward... IMO you should have paid 20 bucks for ramps and did it yourself - it's very satisfying, and you'll have the ramps around in case you need them for something else later on...
FreedomOne 04-14-2008, 11:44 PM But what if you car dropped? With jack stands being used, will the front bumper scrape?
I'm sorry for thread jacking everyone.

you would have to put your car up on tuck stands for you front to scrape.. and jack stands are very solid as long as placed on the right spots and are on level ground. I have spent alot of time under cars on jack stands.. 1 , 2 and 4 stands.. Flint what part of LI are you in. if you don't mind drive into new jersey i can help you with that install.. my sister lives in Plainview IL and that is about 40 minutes from me (traffic is a _____) .. but I wouldn't charge you anything.. if you drove out here ..

Thank you very much, I appreciated your offer ... the exhaust was installed this morning for $40 bucks :)
Sounds and looks great. Next stop is the Supercharger.
Again thanks for your offer.
jsingh 04-15-2008, 02:17 AM post up some pix man!!
:)
flint_08 04-15-2008, 11:07 AM I will post some later tonight I just had the car detailed ... going to take it to the beach and take some pics :)
I just installed some H11 Luminics Pure Blue bulbs into my projectors ... looks sickening ... I have already had two people ask me what HID kit I have. I will post pics of them too.
silverstreaktc 04-15-2008, 10:43 PM You have to worry about 2 bolts and 2 hangers I think. That's about it. Save the $40 to buy a case or 2 of beer to keep you company on your install.

Macavely 04-17-2008, 03:00 PM exhaust looks great.. how do you like the sound so far ??
flint_08 04-17-2008, 04:09 PM Sound is awesome, very deep and throaty sound. Reminds me of a WRX ... even on the highway in top gear @ WOT it sounds good. I am very pleased.
jsingh 04-17-2008, 04:58 PM looks gr8 dude.....did u noticed any change in MPGs after installing the TRD exhaust???
thanks
tCeeder 04-17-2008, 06:04 PM your MPG will not suffer with an axleback. if you install a cold air intake and header..thats a different story.
flint_08 04-17-2008, 07:12 PM So far no change in MPG but it is hard to tell I havent really driven far with it. I would say if anything because it is noisier than stock that I sometimes shift sooner now below 2500RPM, which is will affect gas mileage. In a positive way.
FreedomOne 04-17-2008, 10:34 PM I can't wait to get mine on. But I have to wait to get my wheels.
jsingh 04-22-2008, 12:53 PM cool...thanks
nauticac 04-22-2008, 12:57 PM I installed mine myslef with no jackstands or ramps. I'm on stock suspension, but I was able to just crawl under there and loosen the spring bolts, put the new one in, all in about 10 minutes.
nauticac 04-22-2008, 12:58 PM Oh, forgot to add, look into getting some Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish to keep it shiny. It's an amazing product!
