try elemental designs, they have some good ones, or google "line out converter" they all do the same thing..

the one im thinking of has a technology that senses a slight line voltage and kicks on the amplifier, since the stereo doesnt have amp turn on lead and it was only like 15 or 20 bucks

Why not hook the turn on lead to an accessory wire or the lighter?

I think it was a PAC LOC its slowly starting to come back to me... still cant find it

and im just looking for trigger voltage, which the LOC will give, I dont want to dig into my dash, so the LOC is a good way to go for me.

acc wire copnnected to your amps remote post...
easy...
you have to get into your dash to hookup the LOC anyway...
all you have to do it run 3 wires to the hu area, instead of 2.
hook 2 up to your rear + and - and 1 wire to any wire that gets 12v+ at acc position - GREY wire on HU harness...

Thats typically where the LOC goes.... Sure, one could hook it up in the back off the rear speakers but to get a stereo signal you'd have to span the wires all the way from right to left side. Easier (and makes more sense for upgraded deck) to tie in right behind the factory radio and run your RCAs back from there.

thats why its called a TRUNKloc..you say span like its a 50 ft crater, it can be done cleanly and easily in the rear, im using the stock deck, so obviously im looking to have an award winning stereo system. Its just my daily driver, im not trying to dump a bunch of money into it. I have my show cars for that.

Usually with a LOC, its best to put it behind the HU so that IF you decide to change up to an aftermarket HU, everything (like the RCAs) is already run correctly.

Of course, if you never plan on doing that, ease of install says convenient spot is better for a DD with just upgraded sound.
