Default tein ssp noises

im hearing two different sounds after installing my tein ssp coilovers yesterday. I have already had the alignment done too. Today i was driving and noticed that the alignment was back off again, and then when turning to the left hard i heard a thump noise. I went back and tightened all the bolts back down, and i think that fixed the noise when turning left. I still gotta go get another alignment though....

The second problem (and the one that REALLY concerns me) is that every time i shift i hear a "click click" sound coming from the engine, or transmission, or something. but it only does this when the car is moving, it shifts fine when sitting still...... can anybody offer some advice on this?

Did you do the install yourself?

Unsure about the turning left nose. When doing the alignment, did they use the stock bolts? Crash bolts? Progress bolts? Crash bolts have been known to loosen under excessive stress, though the causes haven't been pinpointed and are inconsistent.

I had a similar problem with the knocking sound from the engine whenever you shift. Turns out, the front endlinks were not tightened appropriately. To do so, you need to stick an allen wrench in the center stud to immobilize it, and tighten the nut around it.

That solved my problem. I just tightened it without immobilizing the center stud, leading to a similar noise and issue. If you're also getting this noise when you hit a pothole or get on a curb to go up a driveway, you might be experiencing the same.

i did the install with two people that i know. they have done similar installs on other cars just fine. just seems like the tc was being weird.

i havent heard the knocking noise since i tightened down the bolts the second time, so i hope they're ok now. and i think they used stock bolts on the alignment. i didnt give them other ones to use, so im guessin they used the stock ones.

im gonna try the endlinks tomorrow morning and see if i cant get that to work. thanks for the input! ill post the results on here tomorrow. thanks again

No prob, man.

These things can be hard to pinpoint, especially from a forum. Hopefully, you'll be able to sort it out quickly and easily.

If not that, then we can brainstorm some other options.

well, i just got the car back fom the shop. they couldnt find anything wrong with the installation. said everything was tight and that it looked good. i have known the mechanic there for years, and im feeling like if he said its ok, then its ok.... so are the tein ssp's just louder than the normal spring/shock from the factory? its only been on there for a day or two, so i guess alot of the sounds could be from the initiala break in period. i figure thatd make sense, but what have yall experienced?

Try giving it a lil time to break in than stiffening the ride (damping) if it remains after some time.

Yeah, at this point, let's just let her break in and see how it goes.

Stiffer springs and stronger shocks do make for a bumpier ride. Perhaps your noise is just a side effect of those bumps.

The "click click"--- at what point in the shift does it happen? CAI's can bounce around a bit, too. The reason I ask, is the sound associated with the engine engaging/dropping load?

good point about the CAI, ill make sure its tight too... should be, but ill check anyways. it seems more like its from the transmission though... especially going into 4th. im gonna check it out and make sure nothing is getting in the way. but have any of you heard from a TC making a clicking noise if lowered too far? i was thinking about maybe lifting it back to the same height that i had it at when the s tech springs were on and see if that fixes it. however, that just means id have to align it again, and go through the trouble of raising the rear, and all that fun stuff... so i was gonna ask if anybody has heard of anything like that, before i go through the trouble of raising it with no effect.

so, just thought id give an update...

the install seems to be doing ok. the noises went away, so im guessing it was mostly due to the break in period. the car handles MUCH better now than it did with the s tech springs.

trd sway bar coming soon.

Thanks for everyone who helped.
