I bought a Fusion subwoofer pack (speaker, enclosure, amp, lots of wires) and I have many questions about installing it. I'm handy with electronics, but haven't done much car audio.

First 2 questions:

Where's a good place to get the 12v for the amp?

Where's a good place to ground it?

Can anyone be a little more precise? I understand that I need to get 12v from the battery and ground to the chassis, but anyone have experiences that might help? I've looked for threads about it, but found none that provided this sort of detail.

Im new to the Xb but i have installed a few systems in other cars. The 12v will need to come from the battery and be fused, then ran throught the firewall (i believe there is a grommet on the pass side behind the glovebox) and then all the way to the back. The ground can be bolted to any body or chassis point but will need to be no longer than 18in and you should grind away any paint in the area. If it has a remote turn-on cable you will have to find that in the radio's harness. The rca's will also have to come from your headunit.

Thanks! I've decided to mount the amp under the passenger side seat. I've got everything figured out except ... I can't find one of my nipples. The driver's side nipple, to be exact. Many posts mention a grommet on the driver's side with a nipple you can cut off. I can see where the wires come out inside the cabin, but I can't see where they go in under the hood. There's a pic in https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...wall&&start=20 but it isn't clear where the wire goes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

your nipple should be near your armpit...

The cable's got a big metal ring connector on the end I want at the battery. I don't want to jam that through, or lop it off.

Nevermind, I went through the passenger side and it was a breeze. Everything worked like a charm.

I bought the Fusion EN-PK112 from Fry's for $150:



It took about 4 hours to install, and I've never done a sub before. It came with all the cables and fuses and such. It sounds very good with the premium HU. I velcro'd the amp to the carpet under the front passenger seat, the sub fits on one side in the back, facing rear. I didn't tie down the sub, it's just wedged up agains the back seat. Nothing has moved it so far.

I'm looking around for a good way to quickly connect and disconnec the sub for times when I need the storage space.
